Description

Plenty of attractions and activities await with castles, Holy Island, boat trips to the Farne Islands and more.

Log cabin holiday accommodation in a peaceful setting

This log cabin is ideally situated for exploring the ancient region of Northumbria and stands on site with other similar properties. Less than 30 miles from the Scottish Borders and 10 miles from the coast where there are long stretches of golden sands - home to the quietest beaches in Britain. This is a region free from the hustle and bustle of the commercial holiday. Inland you will find ancient ruins, romantic castles, country houses and the scenic beauty of the Northumberland National Park, with fishing and riding close by. No trip to Northumbria is complete without a day trip to Lindisfarne (Holy Island), which can be reached at low tide, with its fairy tale castle and medieval connections. Why not take a boat trip to the Farne Islands to visit the basking seals. Alternatively visit the historic market town of Alnwick and take a day or two to admire the Duchess’s beautiful ornamental water gardens, and Alnwick Castle, made famous by ’Hogwarts’ in the Harry Potter films. Thoughtfully planned, this picturesque and cosy cabin captures the country holiday feeling whilst providing the comforts of home. Shops and pubs ½ mile.

The crockery was incomplete, only 2 bowls for a party of 6 for example and the cups, glasses and cutlery were made up of different sets. Not really a problem but you would not find this at other properties in this price band. The bottom shower rail in the main bedroom was nor clean and the towel rail was rust and should have been replaced a while ago. The BBQ area near the play area was dirty and the water tap was seized making the area unusable. The rest of the property and the grounds were excellent, the park is quite remote but exactly what we wanted.

This was a lovely weekend. The play park was a huge adventure for our grandson and the lodge felt luxurious, yet homely.

Great location to explore Northumberland. Good sized cabin to use as a base.
