English Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

Located in the New Forest, this holiday property is the ideal base for admiring spectacular views with wandering ponies and cattle.

This delightful, period home stands semi-detached, and offers light and airy, carefully co-ordinated holiday accommodation, with good use of tasteful themed coloured walls and contemporary additions. It is ideally located right in the heart of The New Forest, only 200 yards from the centre of Burley, which attracts many visitors year round with its tea rooms, pubs, horse riding stables, cycle hire, quaint gift shops and ice cream parlour. There is also a spa in the village where you can spend a day relaxing. Roaming ponies and cattle can often be found outside the cottage or wandering through Burley – it certainly makes a change from a traditional traffic jam! The unspoilt forest and heathland with wandering ponies and cattle is what makes the New Forest famous. Miles of beautiful walks are available, as is golf, or alternatively the surrounding area can be explored by car or on bicycle via the many cycle paths, where you can discover some of the appealing villages, towns, attractions and gardens such as Lyndhurst, the sailing town of Lymington (with ferry terminal to the Isle of Wight), Beaulieu Motor Museum, Exbury Gardens and the riverside village of Bucklers Hard. The county of Hampshire itself was enjoyed by Jane Austen with her house and museum in Chawton and her resting place in Winchester Cathedral. Further afield but well worth a trip is Christchurch, Monkey World and the Tank Museum near Wool. Marwell Zoo, Peppa Pig World, ‘Go Ape’ adventure park, The Owl and Otter Park and nautical maritime history at Southampton, with retail shopping outlets, are also within easy reach. The coastline with its beaches at Bournemouth, Sandbanks and Poole is within a short drive, with golden beaches and has many popular activities such as windsurfing, boating and swimming. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 250 yards.

Lovely property , tastefully furnished and well equipped and in an excellent location. Ideal for our family of 5 plus Labrador - could have comfortably fitted in 2 more people. Instructions were clear, the digital entry meant we could split up and not worry about who had the key. Overall excellent, a bit pricey but I guess you get what you pay for, and we loved it. -

Thank you for a lovely stay at MAST cottage: a beautifully decorated and equipped home from home, with so many thoughtful touches which added to the comfort of our stay. The cottage is very well-equipped, with plenty of glasses, good quality crockery and utensils. The kitchen provides an excellent selection of pots and pans for cooking, with a good-sized fridge-freezer and dishwasher. We really appreciated the beautiful garden, with comfortable outdoor seating: the planting is an absolute joy! We could relax, knowing our little dog was safe as the fencing is secure and garden fully enclosed. It is so nice to come to a property which is truly pet-friendly, with doggy treats and towels! The beds are comfortable and bathroom facilities all function easily, with plentiful hot water. The downstairs bedroom ensured that a disabled member of our party was fully included. This was out second visit to MAST cottage and we will look forward to our return: walks from the door and a well-stocked local shop, a range of shops and restaurants/cafes made for a very enjoyable long weekend. It is actually more spacious than the photos suggest, with a superb open plan living space, complemented by a delightful conservatory.

Great property, exceeded expectations on most levels. Is better than photos suggest which is rare. Only gripe was parking second car was a bit awkward, everywhere I parked the locals moved me on ! Not a massive issue in scheme of things

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thanks for the great feedback we are really pleased you had a wonderful time. We are sorry you experienced parking issues. There is one private car park space and as the area is residential we suggest parking further cars at the rear of the cottage in the quiet lane and also at the top of the lane which is 50m from the front door.

Really nice place and well equipped. Slight issue with no hot water on second morning but boost via nest sorted it out fairly quickly.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. We am very sorry that you had little hot water in the morning, glad we were able to sort it out quickly for you. The cottage has a modern high pressure hot water system with a very large tank which is usually enough for most needs. The Nest digital control enables all occupants to regulate the hot water for their own requirements plus we are able to remotely change the schedule on request.
