The property was set in a quiet location within a few miles of both the coast and the broads, we had a wonderful week exploring what the region had to offer, before returning to relax in the private garden. We were delighted with this characterful cottage which had excellent facilities and offered visitors a truly relaxing experience, and when needed our friendly host was available to give the benefit of his local knowledge.

Beautiful cottage far from the madding crowd yet within a very short distance of some beautiful beaches and the Broads. Really felt total peace and quiet at the cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners in the delightful gardens. Dominic was a wonderful host courteous and a wonderfully and quintessentially congenial gentleman. Sadly we did not have sufficient time to see all his hard work with a tour of his nature reserve but saw plenty of evidence of his loving care and diligence in the gardens surrounding our cottage, his and the neighbouring cottage gardens. A gem of a find we are just frustrated it is such a long way away from where we live but will just need to plan our holidays in advance to try and avoid the horrendous 9 hour journey to get to and from there. We wish Dominic very success in this wonderful business venture and know no one who status here will be in any way disappointed

Quiet peaceful little gem set on the edge of Hickling & Long Gore Marsh. Close to many places of interest & the magnificent beaches of Sea Palling, Winterton & Horsey Gap. Charming host we would definitely return.

we spent hours looking for a Cottage for two which had quality, peace and a quiet location. Then we found this Gem, on the edge of a Private Nature Reserve. When we arrived we could not believe our luck, it was just so perfect with a beautiful tranquil garden. Midweek the owner gave us a conducted tour of the Marsh which was very informative, we had no idea it takes so much work and dedication to preserve and manage the marshland and protect the wildlife. We had a fantastic week and hope to make a return visit in the near future . Many thanks, Brian and Anna

This cottage is situated in an idyllic peaceful location. The cottage garden is lovely and quiet to sit and relax. We enjoyed visiting Hickling Nature Reserve nearby and walked from Happisburgh to Sea Palling following the Norfolk Coast Path and beach. We also were lucky to see hundreds of seals on the beach at Horsey. The owner is very helpful and friendly.

We have had a great week, jam-packed with things we wanted to see and do. The cottage was lovely with a real welcoming feel the minute we walked through the door. It had everything we could possibly need. The colours and furnishings were just right for the cottage and the paintings were super, some by Marietta Pallis, the botanist who lived here. As the owner was away when we arrived we were greeted by his housekeeper who was very helpful and she and her husband offered to show us the way to the local Tesco in Stalham - about 10 minutes away - as they were going on their way home. We were able to do a good shop and fill up with petrol. It was very handy as there aren't any shops in Hickling. The owner took us on an interesting tour of his fenland property explainig how it needs to be kept open by the cattle, horses and sheep grazing, to encourage wildlife and wild flowers including orchids. We had lovely weather except for 1 day and highlights were seeing around 90 seals basking on the nearby beach of Horsey and visiting Cambridge to look around Kings College Chapel - wonderful - and walking by the Cam. Norwich and Ely cathedrals and a day out around Flatford Mill and the Munnings Museum. We also visited the east coast - a week just wasn't long enough. The cottage will be even more inviting when the garden is in full bloom. A lovely place to relax in the evenings.

Wonderfully secluded cottage on the edge of marshland with beautiful garden area to enjoy. Well equipped with everything you need to have a great break away from people. Owner is very helpful without being intrusive. Great location as base to visit this lovely area. Even in August the beaches were deserted, despite the lovely weather! Would highly recommend staying here.
