The number of "Private" stickers and labels everywhere made us feel tolerated rather than welcomed. The "Mind your head" handwritten stickers didn't appeal. While reasonably clean, it felt rather shabby, particularly with some curtains hanging off rails. However, it does have a pleasant garden although the neighbouring dogs were annoying.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Private signs are used to prevent historic and fragile doors being forced. We are sorry these guests found them off- putting but this is a private home for half the year. We have recently changed our cleaning agency and note that cleanliness since has had excellent reviews. In fact, scores are almost always higher than this reviewer gave. Very old houses like this take a huge amount of maintenance and we pride ourselves on the garden.
