The lodge was hard to find, maybe the bushes could be cut back to reveal the number, a parking number would of been helpful too. We were told the front door was hard to open before we arrived & found it was very hard to open & being a glass panel was very worried it would break with the force we had to use! Also the kitchen window wasn’t closed properly & there was a gap in it. ( I read a previous review from Sept last year the door & the kitchen window was needing repair then)! The valance sheet on the double bed had yellow stains on it. The patio furniture was covered in green moss, so was unable to use. Being a dog friendly lodge the hoover could be more powerful. Not sure if the cleaner uses said hoover, but I had to empty it before I could use it. It’s a shame because this lodge is in a lovely position, peaceful & relaxing.

We absolutely loved it there. As we have family near by in Meddon and Bradworthy, it was a great place to stay. You are within a few miles of the beautiful coastline and around w0 minutes from Bude or Bideford. We will definitely be going back there.

Lovely cabin in a beautiful setting. Ideal for peace and quiet. Half an hour drive from a town though. So no amenities. Bring a bottle opener! We had a 35 min drive back from Bude with our curry only to discover we couldn’t open the wine. Quite frankly very traumatic! Nearly threw a paddy 🤣 Over all a fabulous relaxing stay.

Mallard lodge was dreadful, dirty, tired. The shower and bath was grimy you didn't want to get in them. The fridge broke loosing all of our meat. The oven door didn't fit properly so it took longer to cook anything.Glad we took our own bedding as the duvets were badly stained. It was the worst property we have ever stayed in. Worse still there wasn't a caretaker to help us. So yes we didn't enjoy our break.

Response on behalf of the owner; I am saddened that you did not raise your concerns at the time. When our local representative visited during your stay, it was reported that you were very friendly and seemed to be enjoying your break at the lodge. I am organising the refurbishment of the lodge and the replacement of any electrical items which may be considered to be past their best. The lodge enjoys the best views across a lake with dawn and dusk being particularly impressive. Because of this, we have very loyal repeat bookings. With the refurbishments that we have put in progress, the lodge will soon be one of the very best options for a holiday in this part of Devon.
