This is a haven for couples, and ticks all of the right boxes, with private parking, plus an enclosed garden; which is a sun trap welcoming you out onto the patio to enjoy drinks and meals out in the fresh air, as well as being located close to the beach and having a parade of shops and takeaways opposite for your added convenience. With parking for two on the driveway at the front of the property, at the rear you have your enclosed private garden, with outdoor furniture as well as a lockable shed – perfect for any beach equipment such as surf boards or fishing rods as well as bikes. From the garden, you have a glass sliding door opening into the open plan living area. The kitchen is modern and well equipped, where you can delight your loved one with fresh home-made cooking. After a busy day exploring, you can unwind on the sofa together in front of the TV, with views of the sea from the window. The bedroom boasts a kingsize bed, where you are assured a deep and comfortable nights sleep, with an en-suite rainforest shower as well as a bath, so that you can either soak in the bubbles or have a refreshing shower to start or end each day.
Just opposite, you have a parade of little shops including a small supermarket, a Chinese take away as well as a pizza and kebab takeaway, giving you lots of choice for meals in. Around a 5 minute walk away you have the local pub, with a beer garden overlooking the sea and great food served daily. To walk into the centre of town and the harbour it takes around 20 minutes, either along the road or along the beach at low tide. Alternatively, there is a bus stop just over the road with a regular bus service taking you into Whitby, or in the opposite direction to the pretty coastal village of Staithes. Whitby boasts safe, sandy beaches, coastal cruises and an attractive harbour.
The town is steeped in history, from Viking raids, smugglers and pirates, heroic sea rescues and key religious events all taking place here. Climb the 199 steps up to the famous Whitby Abbey, where you can join the Cleveland Way for an invigorating cliff top walk, taking in breath-taking views. Walk through the whale bone archway, visit the Captain Cook statue watching over the piers, and learn more about the local seafaring history onboard the tall ship in the harbour. There are a few different museums here including the Captain Cook museum, the Pannett Park museum with fossils found along the coast amongst other artifacts as well as the RNLI museum. There are also guided walks and the tour bus where you can learn more about the town; the ghost walk is very popular as is the Dracula’s Experience – where the story of Dracula is retold as the book was based right here in Whitby.
Soak up the atmosphere in the quaint old town, with cobbled streets and array of independent shops and cafes as well as ancient pubs. Partake in a scrumptious afternoon tea in the numerous quaint tea rooms; enjoy cocktails overlooking the harbour and not to be missed are the renowned fish and chips. Surrounding you, there are many other bays and coastal villages and towns to discover, including Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Sandsend, each of them glorious for a day out. Inland you have the North York Moors National Park, which you can explore by car, or on the heritage steam train from Whitby. With rolling moorland and peaceful woodland filled with wildlife. Beach 1 mile.
