Description

A stunning five bedroom property in an idyllic countryside setting, with far reaching views to the Welsh mountains.

This five bedroom farmhouse on the Worcestershire/Herefordshire border, close to Bishop’s Frome, has been beautifully restored and offers a sociable space for family and friends to get together in quiet and luxurious surroundings. The mix of old and new gives this property character and the imaginative decoration a perfect compliment. There are original beams throughout and wood burners feature in the living room. The sun room has lots of light with beautiful views, and the stunning master bedroom has a feature mahogany kingsize bed, a large en-suite and a balcony with an open view across the fields and hills to the Welsh mountains. Outside the property, you will find lovely features including an old cider mill within a restored Byre with a heated seating area, a Petanque court and a covered well that retains the original water pump. A pizza oven, fire pit/barbecue and a large refectory table give plenty of options for al fresco dining.
The property is in a great location as it is close to the market towns of Bromyard, Ledbury, the Malvern Hills (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), and the cathedral cities of Hereford, Gloucester and Worcester. There are many festivals and events to enjoy in the area, including the Three Choirs Festival, the Malvern Theatre festivals, Three Counties Show, the RHS Spring and Autumn Show, Cheltenham’s Literacy Festival, Gold Cup Festival, blues, jazz and folk festivals in Upton-upon-Severn, and the Hay-on-Wye Festival. There are many country pubs in the nearby villages, and The Hop Pocket, a craft and gift shop, is close by. The area is known for growing hops and cider apples, and the Frome Valley Vineyard, The Wye Valley Brewery and the Chase/Williams Vodka distillery are all within 10 miles to sample the local produce. There is fishing available nearby. Shop and pub serving food 1 mile.

We loved our new year's stay at Mabley and would definitely return. The living space is big and social. The kitchen very well appointed and the bedrooms peaceful and comfortable. The welcome hamper was huge and full of local goodies including Helen's delicious cake. Thanks for having us!

As a growing family of four generations we spent Christmas at Mabley away from any of our homes for the first time ever to enable us to all be together. And we were not disappointed. We even had Christmas trees in the living room and the sun room. Excellent. Mabley is set in beautiful surroundings and the facilities are wonderful. The welcome hamper was full of delicious produce most of it being sourced from local producers and much appreciated by us. The kitchen is very well equipped. The house is very warm and comfortable and there is enough space for everyone to relax. The view from the sun room is amazing and probably the room where we all spent the most time. Our only regret was that we did not have the time to make full use of the extensive outdoor facilities. As keen cooks we would loved to have had the time to use the pizza oven and the barbeque. It must be amazing in the summer. Thank you to Helen & Steve for their hospitality.

What a wonderful house. Everything so well furnished, well thought out and luxurious and so comfortable for family, children and baby. The welcome pack was amazing, certainly the best and most welcoming we have ever had. All was local produce and included where to source them. We bought some extra from the local suggested sources. The kitchen was amazing. We used the Aga and the pizza oven which were excellent. It was great having so many well thought out kitchen utensils, cutlery etc. All perfect for a celebration and made everything so relaxing. The beds were amazingly comfortable and we all loved the soft furnishing etc. We were so well catered for, including a celebration cake for my husband’s birthday, made by Helen and wonderful. Everywhere was very clean, the bathrooms all brilliant. We did a couple of National Trust places locally and had walks and explored Bromyard and Leominster. It was a most memorable house, the best we have ever stayed in. The design is perfect for family inter generational meet up and celebrations. My only regret was that we could not stay in it for ever, we will definitely be returning though. Thank you to Helen for making the house so fabulous and making us so welcome.

We have stayed in many holiday cottages before but, without doubt, this was the best by far. We had a friends gathering and found this to be the perfect place. It is a clever and beautiful combination of a restored family home and a spacious, extortionately well equipped, contemporary extension. Everyone found themselves wandering around going "wow" at things; everything, from the decoration to furnishings, was all high quality and in complete keeping with its surroundings. It's a lovely, warm and cosy house sitting in beautiful countryside with fantastic views down the valley. The welcome pack was something else, the likes of which I have never before experienced. It was packed with local produce and a simply delicious home made cake. A really nice and generous touch by the owners Helen and Steve. We all had a really, really good weekend and are already looking to organise a return stay.

Mabley is a lovely house, beautifully decorated, comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. It was too chilly to sit outside, but the garden and terrace were very well designed and would be great in summer for outdoor eating and relaxing. The welcome pack was superb with lots of goodies and a delicious home made cake, certainly the best welcome pack we've ever had. Helen was very friendly on the phone and nothing was too much trouble. There is a very poor phone signal generally in this area, but that has nothing to do with the house itself. Overall a fantastic stay and we would happily return.

The cottage was arguably one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. Helen and Steve made us welcome right from the booking stage with a follow up email and recommendations for a perfect Sunday lunch to celebrate 2 b'days. Helen's homemade cake went down well after the journey and the basket of local produce let as a welcome gift was perfect. The cottage itself was amazing and just as it was described on the site. Well presented and equipped with all modern accessories yet preserving a nice homely feeling. This truly is a Luxury cottage and Steve and Helen made sure of it from the toilets to luxury bedrooms to the well presented garden. We had a party of 8 and there was enough space for everyone to relax and enjoy this beautiful cottage. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking to book a cottage for a short weekend break or for a longer period. Our only regret was that we had only booked it for a short weekend break. We would definitely be coming back to this cottage!

Recently stayed here for a surprise family birthday weekend. Beautiful house, beautiful views and the warmest welcome from the owners. The house has everything you could possibly need and equipped and decorated to a very high standard. The stunning kitchen was the centre point of our stay and lots of family meals around the huge dining table. Despite a chilly evening we also used the BBQ and Pizza Oven and would recommend using these. Overall we all loved it, couldn't fault it and are already planning our next stay.
