Visit Bonawe Iron Works, Cruachan Hollow Mountain, Oban Distillery, Inveraray Jail, or the Sea Life Centre. Glencoe and Fort William are easily accessible and offer walking, mountain biking, climbing and skiing. Take the Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William across the Glenfinnan Viaduct as depicted in the Harry Potter film, or ride the gondola up Anoch Mor Mountain. Other outdoor activities in the area include horse riding, diving, sailing, canoeing, golf, mountain biking and fishing. There are also a variety of castles, gardens, and sites of historical interest to visit. Port Appin has a small village shop, post office and two small hotels with restaurants. Beach 20 miles. Clean, Comfy,Cosy With a super view of Loch Linny and the mountains beyond. An information pack would have been useful even if just for emergency if needed.

The view from the cottage is beautiful. If you are looking for a quiet retreat it is perfect. The cottage itself is well equipped and very clean with everything you could need. I would highly recommend it anyone who wants to see the locks and mountains, enjoying the beauty Scotland has to offer.

We have just returned from a week at Lurach Apartment, Port Appin. Graeme and Maryam were most welcoming, friendly and helpful. The views from the cottage were stunning and ever changing... they are even more fabulous in real life. We never tired of watching the Loch, skies, hills and quiet except for birdsong. There was so much to explore from the doorstep and an excellent community run Village Stores a short walk away. We walked from Port Appin to Clach Thoull (signposted from the village), enjoyed coffees and bar meals in the wonderful Pierhouse Restaurant, took the passenger ferry from Port Appin to Lismore, booked our car to the Isle of Mull from Oban for the day on the ferry and joined the RSPB White-Tailed Eagle Watch for a ranger led guide, walked from the Jubilee Bridge to Castle Stalker (route on Most of all we recharged our batteries in this unique and special place. It won our hearts over for sure! Thank you Graeme and Maryam for giving us the opportunity to experience Lurach! We loved it all!
