Enclosed gravelled and decked area with garden furniture. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: This property has a security deposit of £100. Ideally located with direct access to the shores of Loch Lihnne, this spacious, semi-detached holiday cottage, has magnificent views across the sea to the Island of Lismore and the Morven Hills. On the edge of the pretty fishing village of Port Appin, and half way between Fort William and Oban the cottage is a superb base for exploring the west coast of Scotland. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery this is a popular area with walkers and cyclists. There are regular passenger ferries from the village to the Island of Lismore, Castle Stalker is nearby and the cycle track from Glencoe to Oban can be reached by crossing the Jubilee Footbridge. Oban, a small bustling fishing town with an array of shops, bars and restaurants is only a ½-hour drive. From here, take a short ferry trip to Mull, Staffa or Iona, all with an abundance of wildlife. Visit Bonawe Iron Works, Cruachan Hollow Mountain, Oban Distillery, Inveraray Jail, or the Sea Life Centre. Glencoe and Fort William are easily accessible and offer walking, mountain biking, climbing and skiing. Take the Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William across the Glenfinnan Viaduct as depicted in the Harry Potter film, or ride the gondola up Anoch Mor Mountain. Other outdoor activities in the area include horse riding, diving, sailing, canoeing, golf, mountain biking and fishing. There are also a variety of castles, gardens, and sites of historical interest to visit. Port Appin has a small village shop, post office and two small hotels with restaurants. Beach 20 miles. Shop and pub 500 yards, restaurant 400 yards.

    This was the best cottage we have stayed in. It was very clean and well equipped. The views over the loch were beautiful and ever changing. The furnishings were modern and good quality. I particularly liked the artwork on the walls. There was a very good welcome pack, and the owner was very friendly and helpful. It was located close enough to Oban, Fort William, Glencoe and Ballahulish. There is an excellent restaurant nearby. We had a great holiday and would stay here again gladly. Loved it.

    I would heartily recommend Lurach. We found the cottage well equipped, clean, peaceful and relaxing. It was very comfortable and the views were amazing. The owners lived locally and were very friendly and helpful.

    Bed very comfortable double room small,shower room needs shelves in shower to hold soaps,shampoo etc also shower mat ,floor very slippy,kitchen needs more Pirex bowls and glassware .Just a few improvements would make all the difference to a very nice cottage.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; We are happy to hear that you found the beds comfortable and very sorry to hear that you feel there was not enough glasses and pirex dishes. However, we just had our yearly inspection by the area manager and she can confirm that there is enough glassware and dishes to serve a party of eight people. We also would not consider adding shelves inside the shower as there is plenty of shelves in the bathroom and we would like to keep the look of Lurach minimalistic and slick. We also leave a mat in both bathrooms and if you required extra we were one email away. Overall, we feel this review is very unfair and has reduced our rating unjustified.

    Lovely cottage, great scenery, we hope to stay there again next year. Just one thing I would change, the shower screen above the bath. I would have a full bath length shower curtain to prevent a wet floor and slippers. Unfortunately many of the cottages we have stayed in have those silly screens !

    The electricity kept going off. The circuit breakers are housed next door so the were times when we had no cooker, toaster or outlets in the house.

    Response on behalf of the owner; Naturally, we are sorry that the guests were a little disappointed with some elements of their stay. The short circuit was caused by running too many appliances at the same time. The electricity tripped twice, and was re-instated immediately on both occasions. At no point was the guest left without electricity.
