In the middle of council estate, drive regularly blocked

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review. Marazion is a very popular location and parking is at a premium. Being on the edge of a residential area enables us to have a driveway with parking for two cars. Thank you for letting us know that access to the driveway is sometimes difficult. When we lived there we did not have a problem. We are investigating ways of improving access to the driveway by extending the dropped kerb.

My wife, myself and two dogs enjoyed our stay here. Very impressed with the standard of the cottage, well equipped, excellent TV and Sky package, fast broadband, welcome pack with milk and dog treats. Warm, once I'd realised that some of the thermostatically controlled heaters were not switched on. Garden good for the dogs, although the wire mesh fence on the right hand side of the garden did allow them to interact with the friendly terrier in the neighbours garden. Friendly Great Dane and cat on the other side, behind a substantial fence. Cottage is well located, with the bonus of easy access and off road parking right outside the front door, a luxury not enjoyed by properties closer to central Marazion. We found it an easy walk down to the sea front and St Michaels Mount, ( which is well worth a visit, take the boat when the tide is in ) avoiding expensive car parking fees. There is also an excellent coastal path in the opposite direction, again in easy walking distance of the cottage. All off the major supermarkets are located a few miles away on the outskirts of Penzance. Our visit was in October, when most of the beaches are open to dog walking. Visitors earlier in the season would need to research which beaches are open to dogs. Whole area is generally dog friendly, plenty of water bowls in evidence. We were a bit disappointed with Mousehole, large notices on privately owned harbour banning dogs ( and pretty well everything else ! ), it would have been nice to have explained in more friendly terms that this is a working fishing port, hence the legal requirement to exclude dogs. Even in October, St Ives is a car drivers nightmare. We made the mistake of driving right into the centre, along the harbour side to the Island car park, very narrow crowded lanes with very sharp corners, best avoided. Taking the train from Penzance might be a better option. We really enjoyed our week down here, so many places to see and visit. Trebah Gardens are dog friendly, as are the two NT gardens closest to Marazion. We plan to come again and further explore the area.

We loved our stay at Lucy's Lodge, it was a real home from home. The owners have pretty much thought of everything - dishwasher, washing machine, iron and hairdryer. The interior and exterior all in lovely condition, nicely decorated and very clean. The beds were very comfortable - one of the few times that has happened on holiday! The owners also added some nice touches - were greeted with a welcome basket of chocolate biscuits and a bag of doggie treats. There were also fresh flowers in vases in the downstairs rooms - made for a nice homely feel. All of the flooring in the cottage was either wooden flooring or tiles - perfect if your dog makes a mess, so easy to clean up. Had a view of St Michael's Mount from the back bedroom which was nice for the kids to wake up to! Overall, we had a very comfortable stay in this beautiful cottage and would thoroughly recommend.

Fabulous place to stay. Lots of places within the local vicinity to visit. Neighbours friendly as well as The Fire Engine local pub which served delicious food together with a fantastic view of St Michael's Mount. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful week at Lucy's Lodge. The cottage is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The garden was perfect for our saluki-greyhound to relax in when it was sunny. There is a small wire fence down one side, which may be problematic if you have a dog prone to jumping, but otherwise the garden is completely secure. The area is a normal residential area, but Marazion is right on the doorstep, and the cottage is a great base for exploring the rest of Cornwall. We even saw dolphins in Mount's Bay on our first day there. Tea bags, coffee, and milk were appreciated after a very long drive, and the welcome basket on arrival even included treats for the dog! Everything about the cottage is well thought out with guests in mind, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Unfortunately the enclosed garden was not as we expected with a small wire fence to one side which was not shown on the pictures, this was not adequate to secure our medium size dog who could easily jump over it. Although we did not have a problem for the two nights we stayed the immediate area was not pleasant and did not feel like a place we could relax.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review. We hope your dog has recovered from it’s illness. It’s the first time that someone has mentioned the fence. We have a medium sized dog ourselves and have never had any issues durning the years we lived there. However, we take note of your comments and will seek to address this by putting in a new fence at our next property closure in January. Please note we do not take the photos and there was no intention to mislead. We understand the property is not in the centre of Marazion. However that is a bonus as there is generous off-street parking which is at a premium in Marazion village. Our property does not open straight onto a busy narrow road which could be a concern for guests with dogs and children and it is very near the all year round dog friendly beach and costal path. You can also quickly reach the A road from the property without any narrow lanes and we are near popular visitor attractions such as St Michael’s Mount, St Ives, Mousehole and Land End.

Well located to lovely beaches, walks and places of interest. Accommodation was immaculate and well equipped. Only improvement would be a more powerful shower. But, would definitely recommend this property.
