Description

Originally the customs house, this cosy cottage overlooks the harbour, bay and within feet of beach, with sea fishing available.

Magnificent views

This terraced holiday cottage dating from 1740, was originally a customs house, a part of the Solway Garrison. Positioned on the edge of the main street in this peaceful fishing village, enjoying a sea view overlooking the bay and harbour, it is within feet of the beach where swans and herons are regular visitors. Golf, riding, walking and cycling locally along with sea fishing. Garlieston House, gardens and beach, St Ninian’s Cave and the Gavin Maxwell Memorial provide an insight into the history of the area. Visit Wigtown, Scotland’s premiere book town, and the Bladnoch Whisky Distillery, and for a day out, visit Castle Kennedy, Port Patrick, the original gateway to Ireland, and Logan Botanic Gardens with plants from New Zealand and Australia. Shop 100 yards, pub 150 yards.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with toilet.

NSH, electricity and bed linen included. Cot. High chair. DVD and small library. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Patio and furniture. Portable barbecue. Parking. No smoking.

Had a fantastic holiday at Low Isle House. Everything you would need and more with stunning views across the bay. Had great weather so was a shame we couldn't find the patio furniture however apart from that a great time was enjoyed by all.

We only stayed the first night of the 7 booked as we just felt it wasn’t for us. Nothing wrong apart from the small fridge with a tiny icebox that was completely full with ice. As we had taken a lot of food with us that wouldn’t fit in that size fridge, the situation was very disappointing. We had to leave a lot of the food for Christmas in the car outside - fortunately it was cold weather. The frozen food we had taken had to be placed in the fridge or discarded. Having said all that, I’m sure that other people would find the place totally suitable.

Thank you for supplying soup spoons(our last request), unfortunately this time there was no oven gloves nor bath mat and only one drying up cloth BUT this was quickly rectified by the very helpful caretaker. Hurricane Orphelia was not as bad as forecasted but there was only one candle, no matches, and one of the emergency lanterns did not work in spite of new batteries. Luckily, no powercut in the Isle of W, but many local areas lost power. Otherwise, a fantastic stay and we will definitely come again.

Lovely cosy cottage. Great location. Very relaxing stay as no phone service or WiFi! Phone service available outside if needed. Well equipped except no shower.
