We passed through Balmaha when walking the WHW and loved it so much we visited again after our trip was over. That was in 2015 and we always said we’d go back to stay. I booked Lomond View Cottage for the location which is close to the pub/ cafe/ shop. It is off the main road so is quiet but is still close to the amenities. The cottage itself is lovely and welcoming with a spacious sitting room and conservatory. I was initially worried that it would be cold as the heating is electric plug in convection heaters but it was lovely and warm despite it being a cold Easter. It was spotlessly clean and had a well equipped kitchen. There was even a few bits to start us off, the owner obviously cares about the occupiers. You can park right outside the door. We had no problems whilst there and would definitely stay again - there are an abundance of holiday accommodation being set up in Balmaha but none such good value. If I was looking for less than perfect comments it would be the shower which was adequate but not excellent and the fact that the cottage didn’t seem to have its name anywhere outside and so was initially a bit tricky to find from the road, especially as it had gone dark - if you get to the pub you have gone too far.

Cottage was ideal for us. The only negative I have, is mattresses on beds need replacing as they bottom out when you lie on them.

A great place to stay, beautiful location and direct views of Loch Lomond. Abundant in wildlife fron the surrounding woodland. Two minutes walk from the village shop, coffee shop (which serves delicious homemade ice-cream) and inn. The cottage itself was warm, comfortable and spacious. It's does require a little tlc with the hot water and deep cleaning, but all surface areas, beds, kitchen, bathroom and floors were clean on arrival and I would happily stay there again.

Firstly let me just say that the location of the property and the local amenities are excellent and could not be faulted. On arriving we were disgusted with the state of the property and its contents . The entrance door did not always lock/unlock, the keypad did not work, this was stated by a previous guests in their reviews over a year ago. On entering the property we found it dirty and in a general state of not being maintained, wallpaper hanging off the walls etc. This was also noted by previous guests in their reviews over a year ago. The bath was a big disappointment, there was no more than 2 inches of hot water before it ran cold, the electric shower was no better, it kept turning off, we were unable to have a bath or shower until we returned home. Cooking in the kitchen was a disaster, the oven door fell off, we were unable to use the oven, again this was also reported by previous guests in their reviews. There were many electric radiators that did not work, also reported by previous guests in their reviews. The beds in the bedrooms were a joke, they were only about 10 inches off the floor, with old saggy mattresses, we were unable to sleep due to discomfort. This was again reported by previous guests in their reviews. We were unable to get in touch with the owner as their phone was always engaged. Although we like the local area we will never book this propery again.

The cottage is looking tired and in need of an update. On the first evening the oven door fell off and although we worked around it, it would appear that this was not the first time that it has happened. A number of the heaters, including the towel rail, did not work, although it was not that cold, so that we could manage. This will not be the case in the winter months. We tried to contact Fiona by phone but it was always engaged, as it was the previous week. This may have been a fault on her line, We have left these comments on the welcoming card as well.
