NB. The sign at the entrance to the site says it is a Golf Club!! Also lodge 51 is not sign posted from the first point of entry ... but just keep left and you will find it. There are 2 bathrooms, (very useful for us); an under-counter fridge and separate under-counter freezer; a full sized dishwasher and heating is by convector heaters fixed to the walls, three in the lounge, one in the kitchen, one in the hall (not working) and one in each bed room. My elderly Mother and I stayed over Christmas and found it warm and comfortable. We were unlucky with the weather, having only one sunny day, but the site was quiet and the chalet has a pretty view of the lakes. We saw a Jay and a few spotted woodpeckers while we were there, so it would be worth putting bird feeders up (something we didn't get around to due to lack of time.) I would be happy to revisit another time.

Very spacious lodge in a wonderful setting, with views over a lake and plenty of wildlife. The heaters in the lodge soon warmed up the rooms on a frosty morning, and the sun warms the building throughout the day. The balcony, which is secure for dogs to wander around, is accessible from the outside door or patio windows, and there is a range of comfortable seating and a table to enjoy the surrounding area. The lodge was not without its dusty areas, and a welcome pack of milk and tea bags would have been lovely, after a long journey, but not the end of the world. However, one thing that we would have appreciated is a book of information, to know where the nearest shops were and, in the event of an emergency, where to find the local doctors, or vets. Also the stove was a challenge as there were no apparent instructions on how to use it. By trial and error, we managed it after a few mishaps! Apart from that and the narrow lanes to the site, it is a relaxing area to stay and well worth considering staying.

Lack of washing machine was an issue given how active my family are, freshening up biking/beach clothes in a machine would have been a big bonus! Not as clean as some lodges we have stayed in, would prefer not to experience fleas or someones pubic hairs for that matter! No wifi in this one but not so much of an issue for us.

No book with info about amenities, local eating places and info about the site. These are usually in every holiday let along with emergency contact numbers. We were asked to vacuum before we left but no hoover provided
