Lochside is in a wonderful location. There are great views across the peaceful loch, with abundant wildlife, and it is only a short walk from a truly fantastic beach. The cabin is cosy and our problem was with the microwave oven, which was challenging to use. Our dogs loved the place.

Was slightly disappointed with the cleanliness /issues of the property which the owner told us about when we arrived--it did spoil some of the enjoyment of our holiday---There were calves and cows round about us and we could not get to the loch from the property again which changed our planned arrangements---walk to hosta beach --but with a large dog we decided not to risk it as did not want to upset the claves etc.The garden was enclosed but may be a problem for some dog owners if their dog liked to lie on the porch and bark at the calves/cows etc--ours is very placid so not a problem....We had hope the dog could swim in the loch but it was fenced off from our property...We asked the owner if it would be ok to let the dog swim in the loch and asked could do----not really a yes or no.Not sure who owned it and read fro fishing you had to get a permit so decided against it---we had stayed 5 years ago in the owners other property via another agency---we love North Uist and the main reason for choosing the property was to walk to the beach and let the dog swim in the loch and issues which the owner knew about on our arrival did greatly affect our enjoyment of the property...It having said that is beautiful location for wild life but the property needs revamping and upgrading for which I felt would have made the stay more pleasurable able---windows steamed up with the seals broken--fire smoked the whole property when light as seal round the fire not complete---and cobwebs and dust--no ledge in the bathroom for toothpaste etc..all basic minor things which could be sorted and replaced and a view of the bins from the lounge--all minor niggles which if the owner took time out to renew feel it would be better.

If you want to have peace, relax and just to unwind then this is the place for you. Fantastic location by the loch, bird life and views abound. Rich in local history and only a 5 minute walk to a white sand deserted beach

Lochside gave us almost everything we look for in a holiday home of this size. We were happy with the 3G signal we got at the end of the week so that we weren't completely divorced from the 21st Century. The views from the kitchen window of the birds on the loch is lovely. We were lucky enough to have breakfast on the decking a couple of times with the sunny weather. Driving down the approach road would be interesting in a car with limited suspension! The area just before Lochside is a bit of a dumping ground for the neighbouring crofter which, after a long journey made us question what we'd come to but we got used to looking so far ahead that we couldn't see it. All in all we had a great week with lots of walking from Eriksay to Berneray up hills and on beaches.
