Lobster Cottage is centrally located in the historic village of Lessingham, Happisburgh, with views over to the famous Happisburgh Lighthouse.

Lobster Cottage is a charming end-terraced property, built in 1865, located in the village of Lessingham, with a delightful country pub serving food just 10 minutes walk away, and an award-winning fine dining venue at Ingham, just 1½ miles away. The famous Happisburgh Lighthouse can be seen in the distance from the private decked area, which has stunning views over fields, a lovely area to relax in. The impressive lighthouse is occasionally open to the public during the year and is well worth a visit. The gardens at East Ruston Vicarage are less than 3 miles away, a must for all gardeners. It is well worth visiting Horsey Gap Beach to see the seal colony where, in the winter season, hundreds of seal pups can be seen. Visitors are able to explore the Norfolk Broads as Stalham and Hickling Broad are both less than 5 miles away. For children, BeWILDerwood is an outdoor adventure park at Horning with tree top walks and zip wires, making this a great day out. There are National Trust properties in the region, including Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall, Horsey Windpump and Sheringham Park. Alternatively spend a day in the medieval city of Norwich with its cathedrals, museums, castle, theatres and an array of shops and cafés. Walking, cycling, sailing, bird watching and fishing are all available locally. Beach 1¼ miles. Shops and supermarket 3 miles, pub with restaurant ½ mile, beach café 1¼ miles.

There for a week at Christmas. One toilet roll ! One bin bag ! Oven pans , not sure, so used foil, ours !

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are very disappointed to be given such a low score here, which is below the average we normally achieve from our guests who are usually very happy with the facilities provided at Lobster Cottage. We would like to point out that we offer accommodation on a self-catering basis and not as a hotel. We always aim to provide the basics you will need at the cottage. When you arrive, you will find toilet roll in the bathroom, bin liners in all the bins and initial fuel for the open fire during the winter season. We provide tea, coffee and sugar for all of our guests as well as a welcome pack with milk and some goodies to get you started, we do not charge for this as some other cottage owners do. We provide everything that the holiday company stipulates and more. There are plenty of cooking utensils including oven pans, which are stored in the drawer in the bottom of the oven. (It’s a shame the guests here didn’t bother to look in all of the kitchen drawers!)

The cottage is exactly as described, really well equipped only thing missing for us was a BBQ. Location was good -short drive to shops in Stalham. We were able to walk to the beach using mostly bridleways, just over 2km. The Star pub was a 5 min walk up the road doing good food with a big outdoor area.

We enjoyed an excellent week at Lobster Cottage. We brought our Kayak along and there were two different locations that we could get on to the broads that were within 15-20 min drive. There was a bridleway 5mins from the cottage that takes you straight down to the coast (30 min walk in all) and so the local Happysticks Cafe is walkable from the cottage. We tried the local Star Pub which was ok and only 10 min walk. The cottage itself is in a peaceful position it is comfortable and well equipped. There is a Tesco supermarket in nearby Stalham. We may book again to do more kayaking.

Lobster cottage was a lovely property, well equipped and comfortable with lots of useful information to hand. It was conveniently placed to explore the Broads at Hickling and Horsey and beach at Happisburgh. All memorable locations. Vicarage gardens at East Runton were exquisite. Down-side of the property for us was external layout. Given that we had a dog and two young children we were always on the alert when they came and went through the yard. Can’t be changed but means we wouldn’t return with active young children. Fine for babies or older children!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you to all of our guests for their kind comments. We just wanted to clarify one of the comments previously made: We have made our outside space as secure as possible. As specified in the cottage description there is a small enclosed courtyard, this area is fenced and has a gate to access to the driveway which provides vehicle access and parking for the cottages. The separate grass and decked area is fenced and has a gate.
