A lovely quirky and comfortable cottage which was close to the beach and in an ideal location for touring around this area of Norfolk. The cottage was spacious and well equipped for a family of five with a large kitchen area, good sized bathroom and comfortable living space. We would have given it a higher score but were disappointed by the horrible smell upstairs which never went away despite opening the windows and spraying air freshener. It smelt like a combination of cheesy feet and vomit and was very off putting indeed! The cottage was also slightly grubby in places, dirty carpet and big cobweb in the small window. The bed sheets also smelt like they had been left in the washing machine too long and we ended up washing them all just to freshen them up. We really liked the cottage but it definitely needs some minor improvements. We wouldn't stay there again as we thought it poor value for money in comparison to some of the other cottages we have stayed in over the years.

The cottage was in a nice location. It was pretty dusty in places, particularly the bathroom. The bathroom didn't have any blinds or curtains, only nets, which meant that there was no privacy at night with the lights on. The lighting throughout was dim, not good for reading in bed, and the dining area was dark and uninviting. The facilities were all fine. The back door lock was temperamental. It was overpriced, I would expect a downstairs loo for the price.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for taking the time to share your views on Lobster Cottage. Just to reassure other guests – there is a cafe style curtain and a roller blind in the bathroom which can be lowered to completely cover the window providing privacy and the bathroom is not overlooked by any houses. There are three lights in the dining area each of which can be independently used as desired and two in the lounge area to provide any lighting effect. The lighting in the bedroom is on the ‘cosy cottage side’, but there are bedside lights for reading in bed. As you can see in our property details we don’t have a downstairs toilet, we don’t advertise one and we don’t charge for one. There is however a toilet in the bathroom upstairs as advertised! None of these points in this review have been mentioned previously by the many satisfied guests who have stayed in Lobster Cottage over the last four years. We would like to ask future guests to please check that the property details and price are suitable to your needs and budget before booking to avoid disappointment.

There for a week at Christmas. One toilet roll ! One bin bag ! Oven pans , not sure, so used foil, ours !

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are very disappointed to be given such a low score here, which is below the average we normally achieve from our guests who are usually very happy with the facilities provided at Lobster Cottage. We would like to point out that we offer accommodation on a self-catering basis and not as a hotel. We always aim to provide the basics you will need at the cottage. When you arrive, you will find toilet roll in the bathroom, bin liners in all the bins and initial fuel for the open fire during the winter season. We provide tea, coffee and sugar for all of our guests as well as a welcome pack with milk and some goodies to get you started, we do not charge for this as some other cottage owners do. We provide everything that the holiday company stipulates and more. There are plenty of cooking utensils including oven pans, which are stored in the drawer in the bottom of the oven. (It’s a shame the guests here didn’t bother to look in all of the kitchen drawers!)
