Within easy reach of the beaches of Cardigan Bay, these very comfortable cottages are peacefully set in large, expansive grounds and command breathtaking views over the mystical Cych Valley. Carefully converted and thoughtfully planned throughout, the interiors offer an ideal combination – old beams for character, multi-fuel stoves for cosiness and modern fittings for convenience. Within its acres of rural grounds are ruins of its 13th-century long house, set beside ponds, (toddlers beware), an ideal setting for adults to relax while supervising youngsters as they explore the pond life.
This compact, comfortable single storey cottage has uninterrupted valley views from its private terrace. The ideal retreat for those just seeking peace and tranquillity, with a ’vista’, the full extent of which is difficult to catch on camera. The open plan living/dining room with multi-fuel stove and beamed ceiling is perfect for getting comfy at the end of a day exploring the local area, with French doors leading to the private terrace and uninterrupted views you will feel embraced by the countryside. Budding chefs will enjoy the well-equipped galley style kitchen, perfect for experimenting with all the local produce available in the area. With a double bedroom and twin bedroom, both with exposed beams and calming colour palettes you’ll have no trouble drifting off at the end of a busy day. A family bathroom with shower over bath completes the first floor.
There is a riverside pub with children’s play area within a 5-minute car journey. The setting is perfect for making the most of both coast and countryside – sufficiently inland to avoid sea mists, yet convenient for the sandy coves of Cardigan Bay and the superb scenery of the Preseli Mountains and Pembrokeshire National Park. Teifi Valley and Gwili steam railways, the National Wool Museum at Dre-Fach Felindre and Coracles Health and Country Club all make for a fantastic day out. Cardigan, home to its castle and Wales’ biggest cultural festival, the Eisteddfod, and Carmarthen (both about half an hour by car) sport excellent golf courses. Pony-trekking, fly fishing on the River Teifi and the Coracle Centre at Cenarth Falls (famous for its seasonal salmon leap) can all be found within 10 minutes’ drive. And a real taste of Wales is available virtually on the doorstep; the neighbouring farm makes delicious traditional world-famous Caws Cenarth cheese. This tranquil rural location is only 3 miles from delightful Newcastle Emlyn, with its good choice of shops, inns, award-winning restaurants and two delicatessens. This is an interesting town to explore, with a ruined castle, craft and antique shops and a leisure centre with swimming-pool. Shops 3 miles.
Cych Cottage can be booked together with Lletty Cottage (JJC) to accommodate up to 8 guests.
