Ideal for exploring all that Devon has to offer, with museums, golf and quaint villages all close by.

Tucked away on the edge of the village of Sticklepath, Little Moor Cottage is ideal for couples or a small family looking for that ideal countryside getaway. Thoughtfully converted and adjoining the owner’s home, Little Moor Cottage also benefits from a large, enclosed garden, where children or dogs can run and play. The village of Sticklepath is a short, flat walk away from the cottage, has a local shop and pub and is also home to the National Trust Finch Foundry. From the cottage, there are walks into the surrounding countryside and a small area of moorland opposite the cottage. Okehampton, the gateway to Dartmoor National Park, is just a short distance away, and as well as having a good selection of amenities, it has access onto Dartmoor where you can enjoy the dramatic landscape this National Park provides. There is also Okehampton Castle which is well worth a visit, or why not walk along the old railway to Meldon reservoir which has some stunning views.
The location of the cottage makes it an ideal base from which to explore Cornwall and Devon. There are stunning beaches at Woolacombe and Sandymouth. Enjoy a day out at Hartland and visit the lighthouse, Hartland Quay and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. If gardens are of interest, you will find the RHS gardens at Rosemoor a delight and there are numerous National Trust properties in the surrounding area to enjoy. Other highlights in the local area include, The Miniature Pony Centre, Castle Drogo, Roadford Lake, Dingles Steam Museum, golf, horse riding or why not hire a bike and explore the Tarka Trail? Exeter, Torbay and Plymouth can also be easily reached. Shop and pub 750 yards, restaurant ¾ mile.

Fantastic place to get out onto the Moor. Brilliant for little ones too. Would definitely go back.

Little Moor Cottage is, by far, the best equipped Dartmoor cottage we've stayed in, and we've rented several. In late February, despite the 'Beast from the East' and minus 5 degrees outside the cottage was cosy, warm (central heating and wood burner) and comfortable. The owner is very friendly, helpful and had clearly gone to exceptional lengths to prepare the cottage (redecorated and spotlessly clean). The welcoming bottle of home made wine and ingredients for several cream teas was very much appreciated. 5 minutes walk to the the nearest pub with a good range of pub food and 20 minutes walk to South Zeal & Oxenham Arms for restaurant quality meals. The cottage proved quite excellent, in respect of comfort, convenience/accessability and location, for our 4 days of trekking the moor. With 2 double and 2 single beds in 3 bedrooms, and extensive gardens it would be ideal as family accommodation. We would recommend it and would definitely return.
