This property is part of our English Country Cottages collection

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

This quintessential, Cotswold stone period holiday property, with parking and garden, has been beautifully styled and is set in the heart of a popular village.

This delightful, adjoining holiday property nestles in Bourton-on-the-Water, known as ‘The Little Venice of the Cotswolds’, and is which is famed for its series of low stone bridges spanning the fast flowing River Windrush. Little Gem Cottage is charmingly furnished and is warm and cosy with a feature wood burner in the living room, exposed stonework and an attractive enclosed patio garden. The ground floor accommodation comprises an open plan living/dining room/kitchen and there is a wall-mounted Smart TV. Appliances are Bosch or Neff, and include a washing machine, dishwasher, 4-ring hob, double oven, fridge with freezer box and a microwave. The first floor offers a beautifully dressed double bedroom with kingsize bed, a wall-mounted Smart TV, and a bathroom with feature roll-top bath and separate rain shower, toilet and sink. Egyptian cotton towels are provided, as well as 500+ thread count cotton bed linen, and dogs will also feel welcome with a dog bed, dog bowls (water and food), dog towel and dog treats also provided. From a stable door in the kitchen, the pretty patio garden can be accessed, where there is an outdoor sofa, Weber barbecue and Bramblecrest table with chairs for al fresco dining. Unusually for Bourton-on-the-Water, there is a private parking space for guests.
The centre of the village is just a short, level stroll away and many walks can be enjoyed from the doorstep; why not unwind by taking a leisurely stroll along the River Windrush or have a day out exploring the Cotswold Way? There are plenty of sightseeing opportunities, including the model village, Cotswolds Motor Museum, Birdworld and The Cotswold Perfumery. You can also enjoy many individual shops, cafés and restaurants, as well as a gentle stroll by the water’s edge. Other nearby villages with honey-coloured cottages well worth a visit include Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh (with its famous Tuesday market), Broadway and Chipping Campden. The city of Gloucester, with its magnificent cathedral and tomb of Edward, is within easy reach, as is the Regency city of Cheltenham with the famous Cheltenham Racecourse. National Trust properties are abundant, including Snowshill Manor and Woodchester Park. For horticultural enthusiasts, there is Westonbirt Arboretum, Kiftsgate Court and Hidcote Manor. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

We really enjoyed our holiday in Little Gem Cottage. It is a very comfortable, clean and equipped to a very high standard cottage. Beautiful and comfortable bedroom and bathroom upstairs. It is situated within walking distance of the centre of Burton on the Water, dogs allowed in many pubs and shops. Lovely Pub/Restaurant 3 minutes away from the cottage ( Mouse Trap) where dogs are also allowed. Small super market a few minutes away, but there is Tesco in the next town if you need it. We were lucky with the weather despite the snow the first few days but it was sunny every day and we were able to have a log fire in the lounge, 1 basket of wood free of charge, more provided but you have to pay, honesty box provided. Bird Land worth visiting, we especially enjoyed the commentary during feeding of the penguins.

This is a lovely cottage, very clean and well appointed. We would definitely stay again. Just be aware that you have to pay for logs for the stove.

Superb home from home set in a great location, despite me being less mobile than usual everything we needed for a romantic getaway was within the cottage and the village. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Delightful little cottage with first class facilities. Everything you need and a lovely tray of goodies including wine, eggs, milk and biscuits and biscuits for our dog too! Parking space and lovely 8 minute walk beside the river Windrush to the centre of the village. Lots of places to eat and great walks directly from the cottage. Good courtyard to sit out in and catch the afternoon sun complete with table and chairs and BBQ. Highly recommend this little gem.

Beautiful Little Gem! I think we’re the first to stay because everything was so new and smelling fresh. Lovely decorated, with everything you need. A thoughtful gift of wine, milk and eggs was left. Bed very comfortable, bathroom to die for and court yard ideal to spend time when the weather permits. Perfect location only 5-10 min walk to the main ‘hub’. Bourton is such a picturesque place with so much to eat, drink, shop, walks etc. I hope the next visitors keep the place looking beautiful!

Absolutely stunning in every way . Amanda has put so much heart into this little cottage. No expense has been spared and we were sorrounded with luxury touches. Just a couple of minutes walk into the center of Bourton on the water which is an idillic little village. The Del a Heyes restaurant is superb and to be honest my partner and I enjoyed every tea shop that we visited (delicious local food) Can’t wait to return because it really was special and you won’t be disappointed
