Description

Little Dinnicombe Cottage is the perfect relaxing retreat for couples wanting a peaceful country escape close to the breathtaking beaches of Bude and Widemouth Bay.

This delightful, semi-detached holiday cottage sits beside the owners’ home in a pretty rural location in north Cornwall, on a quiet single-track country lane with only one other near neighbour. The cottage is surrounded by fields and beautiful Cornish countryside and yet only 5-minutes’ drive from the wide sandy beach of Widemouth Bay between Bude and Boscastle. Just 2½ miles from the pretty village of Week St Mary where you will find a post office/village store to buy all your day to day essentials. There is also a village church, and a pub which serves meals and bar food. In the quiet village of Jacobstow you will find the village church, and just a mile further on is Wainhouse Corner (on the A39 Atlantic Highway), where there is a post office/store, petrol station, shop, a traditional country pub and restaurant.
The North Cornish Coast offers visitors a variety of things to see and do. As well as the beautiful countryside to explore, there is the coast with an abundance of sandy beaches, coves and amazing cliff walks. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with its large wide sandy beach, sand dunes and cliff walks. Widemouth Bay south beach is a ’dog friendly’ beach all year, and the garden area at the cottage is fenced and enclosed.
The popular seaside resort of Bude is just a 15-minute drive from the cottage where you will find fine sandy beaches, a sea pool, interesting shops, numerous pubs and restaurants, and the Bude Canal, with one of the few remaining sea locks in the country. Water sports of all descriptions are available including canoeing, kayaking, surfing, windsurfing, diving and snorkelling to name a few. Just a short drive from the cottage you will find Crackington Haven, Cornwall’s highest coastal point, with its spectacular beach and cliff walks.
The picturesque fishing villages of Tintagel, Rock and Padstow are close by, and the wild beauty of Bodmin Moor’s windswept and awe-inspiring granite moorland, overlooked by the summit of Brown Willy, (Cornwall’s highest point at 1377ft), and Roughtor, with Bronze Age remains including stone circles and menhirs, are all within easy driving distance. The unspoilt fishing village of Port Isaac, made famous as the filming location for TVs ’Poldark’ and ’Doc Martin’ series is nearby, as is Boscastle. The Hartland Peninsula and Clovelly, the famous north Devon coastal village with its cobbled streets, flower-strewn cottages and 14th-century harbour, are also just a short drive away. There is boating and boat trips, fishing and deep-sea fishing, horse riding and pony trekking, mountain biking, cycling and tennis, and of course, walking in the beautiful Cornish countryside or along the coastal path. Golf courses can be found at Bude, Holsworthy and Launceston. The great houses and gardens at Lanhydrock and Pencarrow, together with the Eden Project, are all just an easy drive away. Beach 5 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

Widemouth beach south is great for dogs and a nice beach. The Wainhouse inn pub is a really friendly one and good food. Barbara and Matthew are the very nice owners of the cottage. We had an excellent week, Little Dinnicombe cottage is so cosy and charming, everything catered for including dog bowls, books to read, DVD's, tea coffee etc. Beautiful cottage, Barbara and Matthew were very polite, pleasant and helpful. The cottage was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and in a very quiet location. Breath taking views of the fields in front and of the coast behind. A perfectly lovely cottage and the beautiful sunny weather made it a holiday to remember. Easy to access places of interest, ie Port Isaac, Tintagel, Bude, Boscastle etc. Would definitely love to stay again and have recommended it to friends and family. Many thanks and kind regards. Claire and Kelwyn, Lilly and Lola
