Description

Discover East Sussex with its myriad attractions including Battle and Hastings, or even take a trip to London!

In the heart of 1066 country in an elevated, rural position, Lissett Lodge is a stylish and well thought-out detached holiday property. It is ideal for couples and families as it has both an en-suite and a family bathroom. There is also a beautiful, covered, decked verandah to the rear, making an ideal spot for a glass of wine and planning your next day’s adventure! The terrace at the opposite end of the lodge catches the sunshine in the mornings and is a great spot for an al fresco breakfast.
Sedlescombe village is approximately 1 mile away, offering a country pub, shop and restaurant, whilst Battle is 4 miles with interesting antique shops, galleries and tea rooms. Visit the historic Benedictine abbey, built as a result of the famous 1066 battle. Step back in time and experience what it may have been like for a soldier at that time. Hastings old town and the beach is 6 miles away and well worth a visit early in the day when you can see the fishermen land their catch and purchase your supper! Alternatively, sample the freshest tasting fish and chips for miles around! The area also produces some award-winning fine wines, so visit the local organic vineyards at Sedlescombe or Carr Taylor in Westfield. Both hold wine tasting sessions and guided tours. Battle provides good rail connections to London for further sightseeing opportunities. Other places to visit include Bodiam, Rye and Camber Sands. Golf, fishing, cycling and walking all available locally. Beach 6 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile

We had a wonderful week. The Lodge is beautiful and we were lucky with the weather and able to enjoy the outside seating area too, which is fabulous. Debra has thought of everything, adding some lovely touches to make us feel welcomed. We would highly recommend this property to everyone.

What a beautiful lodge! We are a family of 5 and it was just perfect for us with all the mod cons and comforts we could ask for. The place was spotless and the owner on hand to help with any questions or queries, she even welcomed us with freshly baked cakes! Would highly recommend and wouldn’t hesitate in returning.

We had a lovely weekend stay at the lodge. The owner was extremely helpful and had prepared us an unexpected welcome package, which was just one of the lovely touches. The lodge was nice and light and bright and clean, well decorated and comfortable beds and sofa. It was a good size and had a good outside space. We went to Hastings and eastbourne whilst we were there for the weekend and the local vineyard. All of these were easy to get to. We had a lovely time and are looking to go back next year.

This was such a great place to stay. The owner was lovely and made us feel so welcome. The place was out of the way and was nice and private so no listening to rowdy people walking home at night as we've had in other places. We went in late September so we didn't go into town at all but in the evenings we just enjoyed relaxing in the lodge. It was a little too dark to walk to the local town but to be honest it was so nice I don't think we would've bothered anyway. There is an outside seating area so if we had been there during the summer when the evenings are lighter and warmer we could have easily imagined ourselves sitting out with a drink. It was an excellent base for visiting Hastings, Bexhill-on-Sea, Eastbourne, Rye etc. We would definitely stay again.

Lovely property, very comfortable and relaxing. Nice sitting-out area in fully enclosed garden. Good beds and bathing facilities. Loads of natural light and well laid out. Beautiful area. Welcoming and helpful owner. Lots of nice touches such as tea, coffe, milk, condiments etc. Even treats, towel and blanket for our dog. We had a very enjoyable stay.
