I was unaware that this was a family home (I should have read the previous reviews more carefully). I would not have booked it if I had known. There were family photos on display, including children, I found this creepy and uncomfortable. There are a large number of family knick-knacks in all the cupboards and draws which we found while searching for things like extra towels, which were stored upstairs with the bathrooms being down stairs. The toilet seat was loose. I informed the care taker immediately and was told “we are fixing it next week”. This did not help us! There was no non-slip mat in the very slick shower tray. I slipped during my first use. The show leaked onto the external laminate floor, and yes, I slipped as I got out the first time. I eventually found a bathmat for the laminate floor hidden behind the bath towel. The shower was very awkward to use. It was difficult to turn on and set the temperature. They are aware of this but have only put the most rudimentary solution in place. The water jet was needle sharp with no way to alter it. There was no privacy locks on the Jack and Jill shared bathroom. The balcony could have used a good clean. All the rails and furniture were dirty. While wearing shorts I bushed against a sun lounger and received quite a deep 4 inch scratch to my leg which has become infected despite immediate care. I could go on but I think I have outlined my reason for the poor score. Lots of small points but they all add up to a big Never Again. Last but not least there was a list of does and don’ts If the BBQ needs gas arrange it and we will repay you. Not our job. We didn’t use it anyway. There was no contact number for a gas supplier. If you use the wood burner clean it. We didn’t use but this was not our job if we did. Clean the fridge and freezer before you leave. We would have done this anyway but resented being told. Before you leave strip the beds and put linen in bath. Put the large bins out for the bin men. What were we paying for?? All in all a lazy let with no attention to, or care for, detail Welcome Pack ???

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback and for your suggestions. Regarding the family photos, sorry to hear that these made you feel uncomfortable. These and the items in the cupboards and drawers are to hopefully make our property feel more homely. There are towels stored upstairs, however there are also towels stored in the cupboard next to the bathroom downstairs as well. There are also hand towels on the shelf in the bathroom. The broken toilet seat has now been fixed. Sorry to hear that you slipped in the shower, the shower mat is a non slip mat. There are bath mats available for our guests to use which are always left hanging over the bath. There are different settings for the shower for the temperature and water jet, enabling guests to set this themselves. Unfortunately due to the doors on the Jack and Jill shared bathroom being sliding doors, it is difficult to add a lock to these. The balcony, rails and furniture are cleaned on a regular basis, however due to seagulls, wildlife and the weather, it is difficult to keep these clean. On inspection of the sun lounger, we could not find any damage or sharp plastic on this that would cause injury. We have taken on board your comment regarding the BBQ and will in future ensure there is always a spare gas bottle for guests to use. Regarding the cleaning of the wood burner, fridge and freezer and stripping the beds, these are only suggestions and are not compulsory. This is to help the cleaners between change overs to ensure the property is as clean as possible for the next guests. Welcome packs are left for all guests which include tea, coffee, sugar and milk.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lodge. It is well equipped, very clean & very comfortable. The upstairs open plan living space and large balcony makes the most of the views across the golf course. The golf club is very welcoming to visitors and several rounds were played during our stay. The location made it very easy to get to Lowestoft, Yarmouth & the Broads; the nearest beach at Gorleston was about 10 minutes away. We spoke to the owner prior to arrival about access and met her as we left, a friendly and helpful lady. We recommend this lodge and hope to be back soon.
