Porthleven Harbour is a magnet for foodies with an array of excellent restaurants, and there are also pubs, art galleries, food festivals and craft fairs. The wide sandy beach at nearby Praa Sands is perfect for relaxing summer days or walks on windy winter days storm watching. The scenic coves and pretty harbours of the Lizard Peninsula, St Michaels Mount and the historic town of Marazion are all within easy reach.
The area is ideal for walkers, cyclists and water sports enthusiasts, or visit the the large estuary at Hayle and the marshes at Marazion which attract bird watchers from around the UK. Take the scenic coastal train that runs from nearby St Erth station into St Ives, or visit one of the many sub-tropical gardens in the area, including Trebah, Glendurgan, Trelissike and the famous historic house and gardens at Godolphin.
