Description

With a mixture of modern and traditional features, this attractive cottage enjoys a peaceful garden with its own charming stream.

This attractive, 19th-century, detached holiday cottage stands in its own gardens, with a shallow stream. Fully modernised, it still retains original character and is peacefully situated on the edge of Lacock village, a firm favourite with TV and film producers. Traditional tea rooms, olde worlde pubs, gift shops, a 14th-century tithe barn and scenic walks make this popular with visitors. The Georgian city of Bath is about 20 minutes away; Chippenham and Devizes (with its famous Caen Hill Locks) are 10 minutes away. Corsham Court, Bowood Estate and Westonbirt Arboretum are also close by. Stonehenge and Longleat Safari Park are within easy reach. Shops 1 mile, pub 100 yards.

Double aspect living room with gas fire. Dining room with feature fireplace. Well-equipped kitchen with tiled floor. Utility room. First floor: Double bedroom. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet.

We had a wonderful Christmas at Lex Cottage in Lacock. The location and surrounding vista's and villages are stunning - we thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of The Rising Sun & The Bell and the walks and countryside which are classic England! Lex was built in 1868 and is warm, cozy and well suited for a family of four (our 2 kids loved it). Living in the US and being 6Ft tall we found the double bed small and the 1 bathroom a challenge but these are nuances we anticipated - the only criticism is the driveway that slopes materially from road to property - the surface has eroded over time and needs work. That aside we strongly recommend Lex Cottage and will visit again.

A wonderful peaceful place to stay. The garden is beautiful, i could sit there for hours. There is a pub just down the road where we had a few lunches. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get away from the city for a week

Lovely cottage however very uncomfortable double bed. They need a new mattress and new free crisp linen. Old rough crispy towels as well. Used kitchen sponge left for us to use in the kitchen. I’d stay again if linen and bed updated.

This cottage needed masses of TLC. A clean property would have been appreciated. Good bed linen. Alas the bathroom was fairly disfunctional.
