This property is situated in an elevated position in an area rich in agriculture and working farms with views over the famous oak woodlands of the Périgord Noir and just 5 minutes from the heart of the breathtaking Vézère Valley which attracts a huge number of visitors to this part of France year after year. Whether you enjoy woodland walks, summer days on the river canoeing, prehistoric cave paintings, or visiting some of the most beautiful villages and châteaux, here is an excellent base from which to do it.
Bright, fresh and well-furnished, this holiday property is great for couples or families alike with a south-facing living space and balcony with views. There are three double bedrooms, two of which also have great views over the valley, and they all share the shower room and separate toilet. The large kitchen area leads into a useful garage. A large front terrace is perfect for dining al fresco throughout the long, warm summer evenings and there is also a lawn which stretches along the front and side of the house. The rear side meadows which are still farmed to this day (unfenced) are left wild for hay harvesting and lead directly down to the main road which can get busy in peak season (you may hear road noise). A natural pond to the left of the property is fenced. The country lane (seen on photos) gives access to just other properties and the owner may pop by to water the garden and his vegetables. Rouffignac village, 3km, has a local Sunday market, shops, a bank and a supermarket. Les Eyzies, 14km, has canoe hire, shops and restaurants. The Rouffignac Caves, 6km, is a must visit and is equally accessible for those with young children or with reduced mobility as an electric train takes you through the tour. Shop 3km and restaurant 2km.

Approximate distance to Brive-Souillac airport is 78 km.

Comfortable bungalow decorated in traditional style. Good beds, will sleep 6 but excellent for a couple. Warm welcome from friendly hosts. Extremely clean and well-maintained, with everything you need. Fantastic views from the balcony. Generally peaceful location, some traffic on the road but not heavy or intrusive. Beautiful countryside with lots of walking in easy reach. Great location, village 5 minutes drive with small but good supermarket, excellent baker and Sunday market. Easy reach of Vezere and Dordogne. We passed a very relaxing and peaceful fortnight and the cottage was excellent value.

A great week in a very peaceful enviroment. Excellent views towards the Chateau in Fluerac and the wooded valley below. If you enjoy stargazing then this is the place for you. In Rouffignac, only 3km away, you will find fuel, a decent supermarket, an excellent patisserie, cafes, a reasteraunt, a Sunday market and an impressive church. Plazac is worth a visit too. You are well placed to visit so many interesting places, too many to mention here. The accomodation was very comfortable. Not modern, but we liked that. The kitchen has everything you need. A decent bathroom with a very good shower. Three very niced sized bedrooms with ample hanging space. The bed we used was very comfy. Lounge/dinning area, ample room to relax in after a hard days touring. Aslo a small balcony to sit out on with a delicacy from the local patisserie and a cup of tea, and enjoy those views. The owner was friendly, very helpful and informative with very good English, which was just as well as my French is none existent. Without a doubt we would stay there again.

A non starter from the beginning. Owner was there when we arrived after an arduos journey from Caen, wouldnt leave until the whole house was described in detail and the land around it, unfortunaley he forgot to go through essential stuff, shops where and opening times, rubbish collection, etc. One of the bedrooms was not made up as requested and when asked about keeping the house cool he replied "close the blinds" ie there is no fans or air con to keep you cool. Temperature around 30c at the time. The road in the photos is a main D road and was quite busy with traffic. Not great if you have young children as no barrier to the road and they drove fast along it. The owner decided to come up to the property on the third day and cut the "meadow" around the property whilst we were sunbathing, we got covered in dirt and dust for around 2 hours with two large tractors, one of which cut straight across the lawn where we were sitting. That ended, we started to enjoy the peace & seclusion or thats how it was advertised....then the owner came back 45 minutes after the hay harvest to water his veggie patch, again whilst we were sitting out trying to enjoy our holiday, he was about 5 feet away from out dinner table. Unfortunatley he did exactly the same the next day and the next day! Cut the meadow and water his veggie patch. Uninvited, no flag up he was coming to the property, just arriving to ruin a long awaited holiday. You wont get peace & seclusion, the road, weird owner and the cutting of meadow which abuts the garden about 4 feet away is unaccepatable. The photos are misleading at the time of our booking plus the description, apparently these have been re written? We had enough by the 6th day, we headed back to the UK. Anyone who has done that journey will know thats a decision taken very seriously by us...its long, very long. A three week holiday cut very short. Dont touch this property if you seek peace & seclusion in the French countryside.
