Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Stay in what was once the gardener’s cottage of the Château de Torcy and enjoy its grounds or get out and about in the Pas-de-Calais.

This detached holiday property, with original beams throughout, was once the Château de Torcy’s gardener’s cottage and is set on a quiet country lane with a lovely view across to the owners’ chateau. Relax in the garden or light the fire for those chillier nights, this cottage is well equipped for a holiday any time of the year. With prior arrangement, guests can take an escorted tour around the private park and woodland of the owner’s château, home to his deer herd. There are excellent walks and cycling routes from the cottage and many family activities nearby. Sample the colourful markets at Hesdin and St. Omer where you can also take a traditional barge ride around the Marais, famed for its market gardens. Spend a day at La Coupole, the WW2 rocket museum or venture further afield to Boulogne-sur-Mer and visit Nausicaa, the largest marine life centre in Europe. Beach 40km. Lovely cottage! My wife, me, two our kids and our labrador stayed at this cottage during summer school holiday for seven days. The cottage has everything needed for the family holiday: internet access via wi-fi (mobile reception was poor in that area), washing machine, dishwasher etc., was clean and tidy. The owners of the cottage who lived across the road in chateaux made us feeling welcome, invited for the drinks and we had a walk in the park of chateaux "following the deer" (the deer lived in this park). The cottage is located deeply in the rural part of France. However, there are plenty of things in vicinity that the family can visit: the beaches (~35km away, ~40-45 mins drive), some nice towns arounds etc. The nearest shop was ~15 mins drive. We enjoyed our staying in this cottage and it is perfect place for a family to stay if you can tolerate some driving to the different places.
