English Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

Description

Romantic countryside retreat with a number of quirky features and stylish interiors. Large grounds abundant in wildlife.

These tasteful, character holiday cottages are set within the grounds of Lemmington Hall amongst the unspoilt Northumbrian countryside. Each cottage has its own individual charm with cosy and elegant interiors carefully designed by the owner. Forge Cottage (ref MVN) is the largest, a beautiful detached cottage with uninterrupted views of the Cheviot Hills, and was formerly the stone-built home of the blacksmith of this charming country estate. The quaint and charming pair of Grade II listed, single-storey, adjoining cottages, Thimble (ref MVV) and Button (ref MVU), designed specifically for couples to offer a romantic country life experience, retaining charm and quirkiness. Peacocks wander nearby, with red squirrels and deer in the woods. The properties are ideally located to explore the abundance of visitor attractions, with Alnwick (the ducal town), only 4 miles away where a visit to the castle and enchanting water gardens is a must, not to mention the Treehouse restaurant. The Heritage Coast, with miles of golden sandy beaches, peppered with friendly villages and historic castles, is only a 20-minute drive. Shop 4 miles, pub 3 miles.

Beamed living room with wood-burning stove, French doors and rugs on wooden floor. Small step to kitchen/breakfast area with wooden floor. Double bedroom with 5ft bed, TV and en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

Silly things let this gorgeous and quirky cottage down-huge cobwebs dangling down the bedroom walls. A mug rack in the kitchen covered in dust and a mop, bucket and bottle of flash left in the bathroom to catch the water from a dripping toilet tank! Lovely fluffy dressing gowns put out for us but no door hooks so nowhere to hang them?!? It’s a fabulous place and would defs stay again if we were the type to go back to the same place but think when all the other effort has been made to wow, just finish it! Lovely touches of an Easter egg left for us and a nice welcome pack, super comfy bed and v welcoming peacocks wandering!

Unfortunately there was a problem with the heating on the second night as it didn’t come on and then didn’t stay on. Please feed back to cottage owners.

Had a wonderful stay here. Beautiful log burner in the living room and an open fire in the bedroom is a treat too. Really gorgeous cottage and the peacocks in the garden are wonderful to watch. We really enjoyed our stay here and can't wait to return.
