These tasteful, character holiday cottages are set within the grounds of Lemmington Hall amongst the unspoilt Northumbrian countryside. Each cottage has its own individual charm with cosy and elegant interiors carefully designed by the owner. Forge Cottage (ref MVN) is the largest, a beautiful detached cottage with uninterrupted views of the Cheviot Hills, and was formerly the stone-built home of the blacksmith of this charming country estate. The quaint and charming pair of Grade II listed, single-storey, adjoining cottages, Thimble (ref MVV) and Button (ref MVU), designed specifically for couples to offer a romantic country life experience, retaining charm and quirkiness. Peacocks wander nearby, with red squirrels and deer in the woods. The properties are ideally located to explore the abundance of visitor attractions, with Alnwick (the ducal town), only 4 miles away where a visit to the castle and enchanting water gardens is a must, not to mention the Treehouse restaurant. The Heritage Coast, with miles of golden sandy beaches, peppered with friendly villages and historic castles, is only a 20-minute drive. Shop 4 miles, pub 3 miles.

Button Cottage is a lovely Bijou Cottage. Great for a weekend but any longer and it would not work due to storage space. The cottage had everything including an iron and worktop ironing board. Equipment put back into cupboards needs checking before the next guests arrive as some items not clean (even though there is a lovely dishwasher). The welcome pack was lovely and washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets, also tea, coffee, sugar and milk a nice touch. The private garden was a delight. Walks in the surrounding area were lovely. We would return.

Lovely little cottage, area beautiful, peacocks walking about, cozy, lovely romantic place, until you go to bed, mattress is too soft, look at ceiling and there's cobwebs everywhere and every room (need to invest in a extendable feather duster and a cleaner who can look upwards) apart from that it's a smashing lovely little cottage. One last thing the welcome hamper, lovely touch ? ? ??

Great local scored low on local amenities but that’s what we wanted. As put in the sticks. Very secluded a great get away. Alnwick is a 10 min taxi ride away. Everything was thought of by the owners a cute little cottage with everything you need inside. Will be back again.

The cottage was full of old cobwebs that I’m sure could have been vacuumed away. There were dead flies all over window sill. It could have been the time of year but there where also huge spiders crawling the walls. The bed was uncomfortable with the mattress pretty much collapsing on itself with body weight - and I am only a small build. I found a black hair on the pillow on arrival (we are both blonde) which made me question if the sheets had actually been changed from the previous occupants. The second evening I found cobwebs near my pillow. The location of the cottage was good - a 10min car ride from Alnwick. The kitchen had a good range of utensils, pots and pans (although we took our own) and the mini hamper was a nice touch. It is a shame about the cleanliness as it was a really lovely cottage. For this reason we wouldn’t be going back for a second stay.
