Ulverston is the birthplace of Stan Laurel, and a small museum pays homage to the comedy duo of Laurel & Hardy. There is also the Roxy which takes you a step back in time (they still serve ice creams and snacks halfway through the film) and the cobbled streets of the town are home to a great range of independent shops, restaurants and pubs. This is an ideal base for walkers with the start of the Cumbrian way being 2 minutes’ walk from the front door and within ½ hour’s drive you’ll find a wealth of different attractions to entertain you from Cartmel races, safari zoo, aquarium, museums and stately homes through to Michelin star restaurants and escape rooms.
Let’s not forget that you also have the world-famous Coniston Lake and Lake Windermere close by so this is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts offering amazing walking, climbing and water sports. There is truly something for everyone whether you are holidaying with family or friends.
