Description

A very spacious and comfortable holiday home ideal for extended families and friends, that has seen many birthdays from 9 – 90 years.

Everyone seems to have had a lot of fun here! It’s a wonderful base for discovering Wiltshire, Somerset and the Cotswolds with its vast array of attractions. The huge library/games room has proved to be a very popular alternative for those ’stay at home’ days, particularly as it includes children’s toys for all ages, as well as a pool table, table tennis table and a piano for the more grown up, with loads and loads of books and games for every age and taste.
Its six bedrooms sleep 11 in comfort (four kingsize, a twin and a single). The downstairs comprises living room, a quiet room (second living room) and library/games room. The half level up hosts a large kitchen breakfast room, dining room (seating for 12), entrance conservatory, two doubles and a single bedroom along with a wet room (bath, separate shower etc) and a separate cloakroom. The first floor comprises two doubles and a twin bedroom, all with en-suites, one of which has an additional bath. Outside are private grounds with patio (seating for 12) and a BBQ.
Leafield House is set in wonderful countryside with far-reaching views, and nestles in a valley on the southern edge of the Cotswolds, away from busy traffic yet within easy reach of the M4. Upper Seagry, the nearest village (a mile away with pub and restaurant) is just one of the many picturesque villages in the area to discover.
Popular attractions, many of which permit dogs, include Malmesbury, 5 miles north, with its 12th-century Benedictine abbey (King Aethelstan, first king of all England, is buried there). Country houses include Bowood House, Corsham Court, Lacock Abbey, Dyrham Park, Stourhead and Chedworth Roman Villa. Cotswold Water Park is popular with children whilst Westonbirt, the National Arboretum, with its extensive collection of trees and shrubs provides a pleasant day out for older members of the party. The picturesque village of Castle Combe (a favourite film location for TV dramas and films) is nearby as is Grittleton and Badminton. The impressive Roman city of Bath and the cosmopolitan city of Bristol with its numerous museums and bustling docks are within easy reach. The ancient stone circles at Stonehenge and Avebury (also Silbury Hill), the Neolithic fort at Barbury Castle and of course the Ridgeway (Britain’s oldest road) which runs from Salisbury plain to East Anglia will please those interested in history. For horse lovers, the annual Badminton Horse Trials, Barbury Castle Horse Trials and Dauntsey Horse Trials are held nearby, and there is easy access to the racecourses at Newbury, Bath and Cheltenham. For those on two wheels, Leafield House is on the Wiltshire Cycle way. For the outside types who love walking and clean fresh air (with or without dogs), there are innumerable places you can discover such as the Fosse Way with its original Roman bridge, or along the river at Malmesbury. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

We were welcomed to Leafield House by Steve and Andrea ....and some supplies in the fridge. A fabulously spacious property equipped with everything imaginable. There was more than enough space for the 10 of us in our family group. The pool and table tennis tables gave the children and adults hours of fun.

We very much liked this lovely house that is both spacious and cosy and has all the amenities you could wish for and more. We loved the well filled bookcases and the attractive dvd collection as well as the vast games room and the large barbecue which we've made good use of, thanks to the gorgeous weather. The owners are very pleasant and within reach if you need them but, although living 'next door', almost invisible for the rest of the time. Despite the rural location you can find several large supermarkets within 5 or 6 miles and the property has easy access to the M4 motorway. Highly recommended!

We were a group of friends celebrating a birthday and we found Leafield House the perfect place to do it! The house was very well equipped and in a lovely location, very easy to find once off the motorway. The spacious bedrooms were clean and comfortable, some have en-suite facilities. The other bedrooms share an excellent wet room. Both lounges were comfortable, but the real bonus was the games room..you would never be bored in this house. We enjoyed our weekend so much we hope to return next year.

Great for a three-generation family. The huge games room made the weekend perfect for our four grandchildren. We would have preferred fewer double bedded rooms and more twins but generally a good choice for the long weekend celebration.
