We have been to this site now many times & as always it is just superb. Quiet, relaxing & the most beautiful house in a secluded location with just wildlife for neighbours. The house is typically French and modestly furnished, but it's clean and beautiful with a rustic flavour. The large pool of course is well received on the hot Dordogne days. This year we had 2 amazing thunderstorms at night, the worst (or best if you like these things), I have ever witnessed anywhere. The countryside around Lolme is mainly arable and vines, with the towns of Beaumont & Monpazier offering everything you could need in these typically French towns. The housekeeper, Odette, was her usual most obliging self and couldn't do enough to help. Her produce available to purchase - paté, soups, tarts are delicious. I read a most discouraging note left in the house by the previous occupants, which I'd like to roundly suggest was a total fabrication focussed on being overly critical while avoiding all the positives. Professional complainers who should be ignored. A lovely house in beautiful surroundings, presented to a rustic French country home standard.

THE POSITIVES. An idyllic location. A cacophony of the wonderful sounds of nature. Quiet, private and peaceful. Very well catered for with every amenity you could possibly need, especially the ice making fridge/freezer, which was very clean. THE NEGATIVES. The place was a little dusty (mirrors in particular). The electrics were a little bit of a problem (tendency to blow fuses if the oven was on, the dishwasher was running and the toaster was fired up). Couldn't get a decent signal on the mobile, which might have been a good thing in fairness. Forget trying to get reception on the TV (again probably not a bad thing). DVD and Video selection left a fair bit to be desired but same thing really. The shower in the main bathroom was in the bath itself, with a plastic shower curtain. This curtain obviously has an affinity for bottoms, that was bordering on obsessional. SYNOPSIS. The pool area was nice and the pool itself immaculate. Alfresco breakfast on the adjacent terrace under the vines/wisteria very relaxing. We loved every minute (but not the shower curtain) there and would certainly not hesitate to recommend the place to other holiday makers, especially if the proprietors can address those few silly shortcomings.
