Fantastic holiday house to suit 3 couples and 5 children aged 6 and under and 2 dogs. We were made to feel very at home and the host left us a thoughtful welcome basket of lovely things. The house was spotless and very well equipped. After reading some mixed reviews we were a little apprehensive, but the management of the house has been recently taken over and nothing felt too much to ask. It is on a busy main road and the garden isn’t enclosed however this didn’t bother us. There was a Tesco not too far away. We had a lovely day out at hamsterley forest. We’ll definitely be back again!

We were disappointed that the garden wasn't enclosed having taken two dogs and it being on a very busy main road. The house was nice, however, needed some maintenance such as broken toilet seats, oven fan and heating elements and overall cleanliness. We found evidence of mice, bedding looked like it had been screwed up before being put on which made us question the cleanliness, evidence of balloons and party poppers from previous guests that hadn't been cleaned up. Overall, location was okay- even near the busy road- lots of nice walks with the dogs and easy to access local area. Owner of the property very nice and lovely welcome pack. The cleanliness was the biggest problem. You don't expect to go to a property and see mice droppings, stains of what we assume are from animals on carpets and broken facilities. We wouldn't stay again as we felt it was expensive for what it offered, asked the enclosed garden and had very poor standards for arriving guests.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; The property description does not state that the small lawned garden is enclosed but the location map does show that the property is adjacent to the main road (A 68). I, personally, would never let my dogs run free in a strange garden whether it was enclosed or not. The toilet seats were not broken but one did have a loose fitting. The range cooker and fan are working as they should. There was no evidence of a mouse before or after this guests stay. Bedding is removed from tumble dryer and returned to bed - it is not possible for it to become 'screwed up'. Apologies for the 2 pieces of tinsel which this guest found that had not been removed by the cleaner. The carpets are cleaned regularly. Arriving guests receive a Welcome Pack and flowers which this guest said was an 'appreciated gesture'. As this property sleeps 11, I can't believe that the £16.27 per guest per night (plus 2 free pets) that I received for this stay can, in any way, be called 'expensive'. Both myself and cleaner, who takes extreme pride in her work, have been extremely distressed by this feedback.

Fantastic stay, great house, great facilities. Let down marginally with location being on a very busy and fast road and the back garden not being totally enclosed as we had the dogs with us. One or two items needing attention such as toilet seats not fixed on properly, parasol for garden was broken as was the pool table supports. Other than that we had a fantastic stay regardless of the poor weather on Saturday and Sunday and found the house to be ideal for our needs and would highly recommend it.
