An ideal place to enjoy some variety in your holiday in south-west France

An ideal place to enjoy some variety in your holiday in south-west France. For relaxing on hot summer afternoons, a large covered terrace area overlooks the larger than average private swimming pool, gardens and a lake adjacent to this detached house. The interior features a bar area in the lounge and a conservatory. Two karting tracks, and lake for jet skis and water skiing within 5km. Cosmopolitan Agen is about 8km, whilst popular Moissac and pretty villages and bastides are within 40km. The spa town of Casteljaloux (with golf course and swimming lake with a sandy beach) is a similar distance. Because of its proximity to the main road networks, day trips to Bordeaux and some coastal resorts of the Atlantic coast, such as Arcachon, are possible. Shop, café/bar and restaurant 2km.

Approximate distance to Bergerac airport is 90 km.

Lounge/diner, kitchen/diner, conservatory, 2 double bedrooms each with en-suite shower, toilet and basin.

Oil central heating, woodburner in lounge, cot, colour TV (French channels only), DVD, washing machine, freezer, microwave, lawned garden, patio, garden furniture, barbecue, outdoor swimming pool (private, open Jun-Sep weather permitting), off road parking for 2 cars. Sorry, no pets.

A pretty cottage which has been extensively renovated. However we called it a "nearly house. It seemed the work done had not quite been finished . The toilet in bedroom one wasn't fixed to the floor. the shower not fixed to the wall. The door handle fell off. In room two,the shower didn't work properly, and when we got some water to flow, it ran out the door. A lot of work has been done and nearly finished. There were no information leaflets about the surrounding facilities, or how or where anything was. Overall however we enjoyed our stay and would not consider these remarks as complaints, merely suggestions for the future. PS. Direction were not very clear at end.

We couldn't fault the owner in terms of her hospitality, we only saw her on the day we arrived and the day before we left and she was very pleasant. However, the location was definitely an acquired taste. Whilst there was a lovely lake opposite the property, on one side of the property you could see and hear the motorway clearly and on the other was a road that the locals used as a rat run, just beyond this road were the cement works. The property itself definitely needs an update, the furniture was very dated (particularly in the bedrooms). It also had an array of smells, from old cooking fat (living room) to rotting cabbage (second bedroom). The cleanliness of the property was poor, in particular the toilets, which were disgusting. There was evidence of the previous occupants in the vanity bins and on the toilet seats. The pool was beautiful but very cold. The garden was very well maintained, however, the presence of the owners dog wandering in and relieving itself was a bit much. If we didn't put the make shift gate up on the patio the dog would wander up and just sit there until we moved it off.
