Ideal for couples or a small family wishing to discover the Roman city of Bath and the surrounding countryside of Somerset and Wiltshire.

This semi-detached barn conversion enjoys views of peaceful countryside. It is part of the owner’s 7-acre smallholding, comprising of woodland, two wildlife ponds, an orchard, a vegetable garden and a polytunnel, as well as chickens, ducks, bees and sheep. Guests may purchase Laurel Farm honey, eggs and small joints of meat when available. The cottage is designed and finished to a very good standard with oak floors, doors and staircase beams. Upstairs has original beams, and is spacious and bright throughout. It has received the the Green Tourism gold award, demonstrating the owner’s commitment to sustainability and the environment.
Laurel Farm is situated in the centre of the small village of Carlingcott, half way up the historic Cam Valley and a 15-minute walk to the nearest village of Peasedown St John. This eco-cottage is set behind the farm and neighbouring county. Laurel Farm also hosts a peaceful and small Steiner Kindergarten, which the cottage’s back wall adjoins. It is rurally located, with gentle sloping walks to Camerton Woods and more steeply downhill to Cam Brook, and is only 6 miles from the city of Bath.
There is a very convenient ’Park and Ride’ bus into Bath’s city centre a few miles from the cottage. Bath is a famous World Heritage City, whose attractions including sweeping Georgian crescents, the abbey, the Roman Baths and the Thermae Bath Spa rooftop pool. The vast array of independent shops, restaurants, galleries, museums and cultural events, and stunning architecture at every corner, make the city special. With the Kennet and Avon Canal, and the River Avon running through the city, there is ample opportunity for boating, walking and cycling along the towpath.
A few miles along the canal is the smaller town of Bradford-on-Avon with its medieval tithe barn. The up and coming alternative market town of Frome is 8 miles away. Within an hour’s drive visitors can reach Longleat House and Safari Park, Cheddar, Glastonbury, Wells, Bristol, the Cotswolds and the west Somerset coastal resorts. Shop, pub and restaurant within 1 mile.

Laurel Farm Cottage is ideal for ramblers or similar. The property is adequately comfortable but does not suit guests with any, however minor, mobility problems. The property is situated on a working farm on the edge of a small village and whilst the visitor book states the village is a ten minute walk along a public footpath as the footpath is extremely steep, after rain it is very muddy and the ten minute walk becomes a thirty minute hike. The parking area has no surfacing and again after rain means the walk from the car to cottage is a wallow in mud, not ideal if planning a meal out. The owners have a kindergarten which means that children and parents visit daily, but the footpath to the kindergarten runs alongside the cottage which means if you require privacy the curtains and blind on the ground floor have to remain closed.

Lovely cottage, very attractive and well presented. It had everything you could need, and was most comfortable - the underfloor heating was great! Our dog enjoyed it too! The owners came around to welcome us and gave us some lovely fresh eggs from their own hens. The nearby Park 'n Ride was handy, and we used it to go into Bath for the Christmas market. The only slight problem was that the nearest village had very few amenities, but that was easily overcome. We would certainly recommend this cottage, and hope to visit again.
