This property is part of our Welcome Cottages collection

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

This wonderful coastal cottage offers a great location to explore this fabulous area of Sussex, including Hastings and Battle.

This terraced seaside cottage dates back to 1850, and boasts a beautiful interior, in the style of the Arts and Crafts movement typical of the time, which was inspired and led by William Morris in the late 19th-century. The well-equipped kitchen/dining room is bespoke and is made up of oak units. The lovely living room boasts a large smart TV and a warming electric wood burner.
The property is situated in the village of St Leonards-on-Sea, close to the fishing town of Hastings, which enjoys 3 miles of award-winning shingle beach, and plenty of footpaths for walking and cycling. The coastal cycle path which runs from Hastings to Bexhill On Sea is just 400 yards from the property. There is a plethora of independent shops, a cinema, cafés, pubs and restaurants within walking distance as well as a train station with direct trains to London Charing Cross. The medieval town of Hastings with its historic beach backed by grand whitewashed Edwardian buildings and fine Victorian pier (awarded ’Pier of the Year’ in 2017) is just a mile away. Here you can also visit a number of independent galleries including Jerwood Gallery which is situated right by the beach. For children, and those young at heart, the worlds largest underground skate park is located beneath the seafront promenade in Hastings. ’The Source’ includes a mixture of transition and street features and has open sessions, coaching and even film screenings at certain times of the year. At Bexhill On Sea, 6 miles you can visit ’De La Warr Pavilion’, or ’the people’s pavilion’, a pioneering centre for arts and culture with many different exhibitions throughout the year. The market town of Battle offers delightful tea rooms, or walk across the iconic battlefield, where you can learn about the history that took place there. This area is a hub of activity for those involved with, or just interested in the creative arts, a great base for a holiday in any season. Beach 400 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 250 yards.

Perfect, cosy place to stay with a great location. Jo was a great and flexible host. A stones throw to the St Leonards sea front and then only a short 10 minute walk along to Hastings which has a fantastic Old Town.

Our Cottage myself and my wife stayed in was absolutely amazing! We loved every minute of it and couldn't speak highly enough of the owner Jo. We had our dog staying with us and she couldn't be more welcoming if she tried with the addition of dog treats, a bottle of wine for us and Coffee, jams, honeys etc. The Cottage itself was spectacular and finished to such a high much so we didn't feel the need to go out on the Saturday night we instead stayed in and cooked in her wonderful kitchen. Jo even helped us out when my wife left her purse behind and once we contacted her to alert her she sent it back to us special delivery next day with no charge. I couldn't stress enough how easy and welcoming the whole experience was and wouldn't think twice about staying there again Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We had a lovely break at Larkspur, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean it provided all that was needed during our time there. Jo, the owner, was on hand if needed and thoughtfully provided treats on arrival. A little courtyard at the back provided a magical and private outdoor space full of potted plants. Great location near to the beach front, restaurants, cafes and pubs and a short stroll into Hastings. A perfect seaside holiday with fabulous accommodation!! Thanks Jo- can see the care you’ve taken in creating a lovely holiday home
