If you are looking for a proper getaway from the madding crowd, this is your cottage, the location and scenery are amazing. We saw 15 different Castles and Monuments in our week long stay. You are about 20 mins from the Scottish border. There is loads to do, but you will need a car. We will definitely be returning soon.

We really enjoyed our week at Lapwing Cottage and would definitely return. There was enough space for us all to enjoy ourselves and found the cottage very cosy. We found all the equipment we needed and the owner was nearby had we had a query. The location was beautiful, very quiet and a perfect base for exploring and visiting places in Northumberland and the border. Berwick-Upon-Tweed was very close with a plethora of amenities, along with other towns on the main roads. The decor was slightly dated in places, but was very clean and perfectly pleasant.

The cottage was ready for us when we arrived, no waiting around. It is a lovely cozy, homely cottage. the back garden was big and secure ideal for our dog. The owner called by later in the day and she was so friendly and helpful. Her family are all around and they are also warm and welcoming. If there was a drawback, it would be that we couldn't get a mobile phone signal. On a downside, we had to cut our stay short as my dad took ill, but we would definitely stay again.
