Description

Set within Port Isaac, this detached cottage is perfect for strolling around the harbour and enjoying stunning sea views.

This detached holiday cottage is perched overlooking the working harbour with amazing sea views over the beach, out to sea, and the village. Lanroc House, circa 1820, is at the very heart of this bustling, traditional, Cornish fishing village. Close to the centre and the array of local shops, pub, galleries and various eateries. Port Isaac is famous for many things, including being the set of ’Doc Martin’, the popular TV show, and home to the renowned ’Fisherman’s Friends’ who you may be lucky to catch giving an impromptu performance on the quay on a Friday night. The village has a small and pretty beach dotted with fishing boats, and is the perfect spot to relax and buy the catch of the day. Nathan Outlaw, a twice Michelin star chef, has opened a bistro in the village serving the best fish from local, inshore fishing boats. Padstow for Rick Stein’s many eateries, and Polzeath for great surf, are only a few minutes away as is Tintagel, legendary home to King Arthur’s Camelot. Bodmin Moor, home of Jamaica Inn, is ideal for walking and riding. Sea fishing trips, golf, surfing and cycling are all catered for nearby, making Lanroc House the perfect Cornish getaway. Beach 75 yards. Shop 5 yards, pub and restaurant 20 yards.

Fantastic location difficulty parking but we understand the issues there and soon got used to that. The cleanliness of Lanroc House however was a real issue. It is in need of a deep clean. We could smell a faint whiff of urine (dog or human not sure) the fridge also needed a clean. The upstairs toilet seat was a trap as it fell while using it! Chained wardrobes would look better with discreet locks. There was a lot of Man drawers (to quote Michael Mcintyre) On a positive note the beds were comfortable. The owners contact number is Lanroc House so people ring for information. During our stay the cladding around one of the windows fell off and we had a visit from the building inspector! For the price we expect a lot better. We travelled from Lincolnshire with high hopes- lovely village shame about the property.
