Description

With views over the lovely River Vert, this property boasts authentic wooden beams and stone walls in a rural part of France.

Looking out over the valley and the River Vert, this property, with its original wooden beams and stone walls, is well located for exploring this area of rural France. There is a large, outdoor, private swimming pool in the grounds, but you can also take a dip at Lac Vert in Catus, just 7km away, which also has a beach and pedalo hire. There are opportunities for water sports along the River Lot, or why not visit one of the numerous medieval towns such as Puy-l’Évêque, Luzech and Cahors, with its famous Pont Valentré bridge. The area is renowned for its Cahors wines and there are plenty of places throughout the region to sample the local produce. Shop 7km, restaurant 1½km.

The house itself is typical of the area, however its position is right on the road which is not evident from the photos. Whilst not overly busy, traffic passes the house at high speed which is very noisy and a blind bend means leaving the property by car is hazardous. The downstairs is characterful and spacious. The kitchen is well appointed though starting to show its age. The bedrooms are of a good size but the bedding and towels supplied need updating as do the mattresses and some of the furniture. The pool is excellent, though for 8 there are not enough loungers which do not have cushions and some are very old. Plastic glasses should be supplied as no food or drink is allowed by the pool. The garden is fenced off but the main gate is held together with string which for children or pets is not secure. Also there is an old barn in the grounds the roof of which looks like it could easily collapse and though there is a Keep Out sign adventurous children could be at significant risk.
