The location of the property is very good, but I would not stay here again. The facilities were quite poor and although the property is described as detached there is someone living upstairs playing loud music sometimes and using the same entrance. Also when they stand on their balcony they can see into the garden which would have been otherwise private. There is no air conditioning or even a fan, which in 40 deg heat is essential! The owner did buy a tower fan for us during our stay but it did very little! I ended up in the hospital on Friday as I just could not cool down and was experiencing stroke like symptoms. The bedroom was so hot and even with both doors open during the night provided little relief. The pillows definitely need changing as they smell of sweat and mine had a blood stain on it. It’s a shame as it could be such a lovely property with a bit of extra attention and care.

My wife and I enjoyed having a pool to return to during the hot summer days at Aix. The home was very secure and close to a bus stop that took you into town (#7 Brunet) that ran frequently. There were plenty of blankets and pillows and cutlery and furniture to use in the large home. There are others living in a suite at one end of the house but you would rarely notice them. My wife's hearing is not as good as mine and she didn't believe me when I told her I heard sounds at times she thought we were alone. The suite has a private entry and we were not bothered so I don't think it would be an issue. It was never noisy. A nearby boulangerie was open 6 days a week and a Carrefour is minutes away as well. Handy for filling your fridge or any incidental items you might need. Plus an ATM and Wine shop are in easy walking distance. We walked to town one day and it took 25 minutes. Good if you like it but the bus is much faster and better in 30+ temps. I think the home was a little worn down and the pool was growing a little algae by the end of the week. Definitely needed a visit from the pool cleaner. Owner said someone was coming but we saw the water every day get a little dirtier. But it was not cloudy, but some guests might be put off. It was not heated so very refreshing for us. The patio area should be neater as well. The pool and yard were very private! We would come back here if we were lucky enough to return to Aix in the future. Our email communication was lacking but our next hotel didn't receive our replies as well so I don't want to blame the owner. Speaking of email, the Wi-Fi worked perfectly and we had no problems at all. Future guests should use their cell phone to send messages, we just happen to be the last couple in Europe who refuse to have a phone ;). All in all it was an excellent week and I would endorse this rental unit. My wife and I agreed that the sofas were ready for the skip.

The cottage was not very well cleaned. We paid extra for cleaning. The toilet was dirty and the ice maker gave brown ice from the fridge. It is advertised as the owner living above and he doesn't. The outside space was full of weeds and even had a motorbike in. There was water damage stains on the ceiling and one night we had water coming in. The heating and hot water runs that flat upstairs so you cannot have full control over either as they complain about you altering it. We had to have the heating on day and night in April. The location was fantastic, only a short walk from town. If the house had a little work and wasn't so dated it would be fantastic. Oh and you could control the heating and the house had correct soundproofing so you could not hear the people above like they were in the room next to you up to midnight. The people above were not loud, no wild parties but you could hear them talking at normal volume.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the agency; We’re very sorry to hear that your stay was not satisfactory. We’ve been in contact with the owner and the cleaning issues will be more closely monitored to ensure the house remains perfectly clean. The ice machine has been tested and it functions correctly. Unfortunately after very heavy rain the grass was slightly overgrown but be assured that the garden is maintained on a regular basis and after the heavy rain the owner used weed killer to eliminate this problem. The owner has since had the water damage stains removed so this is no longer an issue. Regarding the issues with heating, it’s a shame you didn’t contact the owner as he would have gladly intervened to adjust this. The owner has taken on some renovations recently to make the house more soundproof. We hope your next stay is more pleasant and please in future when you encounter problems during your stay, don’t hesitate to contact the owner or person in charge at the time.
