Located in the village of Norbreck, in a quiet residential area, Kirkstone is a comfortable holiday home, fully-equipped with all necessary amenities. Outside, there is a driveway for off-road parking, and at the rear, there is an enclosed garden. A real suntrap, the garden has a large decked patio, perfect for al fresco dining or simply taking a breath of fresh sea air. Owing to the shower room and bedroom on the ground floor, this property is also ideal for those who are less mobile. The beach is a 5-minute walk away, and there are convenient shops and takeaways nearby, and guests at Kirkstone are entitled to a discount at some local amenities, including Norbreck Chippy, Spindles Health and Spa club at the Norbreck Castle and the Teetime Golf Centre.

Just 2 miles from Norbreck is Cleveleys, a seaside town with a real old-world charm. Its award-winning promenade is ideal for dog walkers, cyclists, or simply for taking a gentle stroll. There’s a nice park with a children’s play area and pitch and putt, and the town centre has a good selection of shops, bars and cafes. Contrasting with Cleveleys is its neighbouring seaside resort, Blackpool, which boasts bright lights, a vibrant atmosphere and a wealth of attractions. Owing to the tram stop just ¼ mile from the property, Kirkstone makes an ideal base to explore all that Blackpool has to offer, such as its prominent tower, Pleasure Beach, zoo and coast. And when you’re ready to escape Blackpool’s constant hustle and bustle at the end of the day, the property is just a 10-minute tram ride and a short walk away.

Also worth a visit is the cosmopolitan Lytham St Annes, 9 miles, which boasts many lovely shops, bars and restaurants, and Fleetwood, 5 miles, with all its attractions, such as the Freeport shopping village and Farmer Parrs Animal World, which is great for young children. Why not visit the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Ribble Valley? With lots of great walks, pretty villages and welcoming country pubs, spending a day or two in the area should be high on the list of things to do. The Lake District is also very accessible from here, and Kendal is under an hour’s drive.

    Great stay the only thing that let it down was the beds were a little uncomfortable. Plenty of things for the kids to do dvd games colouring etc . Brilliant enclosed garden for the dogs would definitely book again

    great cottage in the quieter end of Blackpool but near enough for the attractions etc, the girls enjoyed the treasure hunt for the prize and the adults liked the hot cross buns and the Milk on arrival, weather was extremely nice which allowed us to enjoy the beautiful garden, would recommend.

    Such a brilliant place to stay, quiet, clean, spacious and easy to be in. I would book it again next year, but sadly it appears it will not be there as the family are putting it up for sale. However I know life and plans can change quickly, so I will check nearer the end of this year to see if the house is free. I can recommend this chalet bungalow to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

    We had a very nice break at Kirkstone. Being able to take our dog was good. Kirkstone is very well situated, minutes from the promenade and transport facilities. I would recommend this property for a break.

    Guest privacy is clearly not a priority for these property owners. Not only is there no curtain at the front hall window meaning that you can be seen clearly in the house lights, from behind the net curtain in the evenings; yes even including walking between the main bedroom and the bathroom.... but also, there is a Nest 24/7 live streaming camera recording everything you do or say in the downstairs of the house. This camera leads to a locked cupboard and could be streaming anywhere. We were extremely disturbed at the thought that the camera has recorded us and my 4 year old daughter without our permission and done goodness knows what with the recordings. There is no warning in the cottage info or the pre-arrival info to tell you there's a camera pointing into the house from a ledge in the hallway, but there it was light on, recording us. We refrained from discussing confidential business information (despite us visiting for work) and my husband and I used the twin room upstairs rather than the main room downstairs opposite the bathroom for fear of being caught in the night nipping across the hall. We also turned it and tried to unplug it to protect my daughter's identity and prevent her image being potentially shared. The house was scrupulously clean in all areas except for the drawers and cupboards in the kitchen with grubby plates and numerous large crumbs nestled in amongst the cutlery. There were numerous games and toys in the various house cupboards and my daughter enjoyed the 'den' created on the bottom bunk and the treasure hunt that had been left in her bedroom. There is a Nest thermostat in the kitchen, but despite us letting the owner know that we would arrive around 3pm, when we arrived the heating was off and it was 14 degrees. We put the heating on as instructed and it finally reached 18 degrees at 10pm at night, so that's the entire evening that we were cold. There is a fan fire heater in the living room so at least we could feel like we were crisping up nicely whilst in that room though. The following day we got wise and waking up to a 16 degree house we turned it up as soon as we returned at 3.30pm and it was nearly warm when we got back from dinner out at 9.30pm. This is a COLD house, there's clearly little to no insulation because the house reverts to chilly very quickly, not helped by the owner keeping it at 9 degrees unless you over-ride it. You wouldn't be able to sleep with the noisy heating pipes if you leave the heating on overnight so only book this house in summer, or if you are particularly hardy. There has been some modernisation and improvements, however there is still more to be done to bring it up to basic standards. Your choice of toilets for example is the downstairs shower room loo that doesn't flush very well or the upstairs loo with a door that doesn't fully close. Overall it was cheap, we loved the original feature railings in the stairwell/landing but don't appreciate being spied on or being so cold.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; We communicate with every guest before they arrive so that they have a contact number and it’s such a shame we weren’t contacted because we always respond and resolve any issues. The security system is disconnected during occupancy and only active when the property is vacant, the lettings have been so popular that this amounted to only 2 weeks unoccupied last year. Even when active it is only triggered if there is a Smoke or Carbon Monoxide alert. The heating instructions are provided before arrival by text as a reminder and are fully controllable by our guests who can adjust it to suit their needs. The property is assessed and graded annually by the Agents and every year we have guests who rate us above the star rating applied. We have guests returning year on year and invest annually in upgrading the property, we have just upgraded the decking to the rear ready for the outdoor season.
