Kirkside Barn is a detached, stone barn conversion situated in a conservation area in the little moorland village of Mary Tavy, just 3½ miles from Tavistock. This wonderful cottage offers an array of facilities and has been thoughtfully furnished with your comfort in mind. The oak fitted kitchen has a lovely pine dining table and chairs, so you can enjoy a sit down meal surrounded by your loved ones. Steps lead from the kitchen/dining room into the living room where there are two sumptuous sofas, an arm chair and a delightful rocking chair. The 3-seater sofa converts to a double bed with an everyday-use mattress. Glazed patio doors lead from the living room onto the enclosed sunken patio, complete with garden furniture, a barbecue and a raised terrace with a bike storage area. There is also use of the owners’ lawned garden and washing line across the driveway. The first floor has been split into two areas and can be accessed by two separate staircases, and holds two bathrooms and three bedrooms.
Located close to the village church, next to the owners’ home, it offers a very peaceful setting and is surrounded by countryside. Guests can enjoy shared use of the owner’s garden and make use of their washing line too, perfect for summer days. Within the Dartmoor National Park, spectacular scenery, open moorland, granite tors and rushing rivers, wooded valleys, and pretty little villages await you, whether you drive, cycle, walk or horse ride. There is something for everyone within easy reach, either on Dartmoor or further afield in Devon or Cornwall. Family attractions include Buckland Abbey, Lydford Gorge, Tamar Trails, Miniature Pony Centre, Cotehele House, Castle Drogo, Dartmoor Zoo, Eden Project, Woodlands Theme Park and Crealy Adventure Park. The wide sandy beaches on the north coast, and the coves and sandy bays on the south coast are only an hour or so away by car, as well as the bustling cities of Plymouth and Exeter for shopping and further sight seeing. There are facilities for fishing, golf, tennis, canoeing, gliding, cycle and horse riding. The leisure pool and cinema/arts centre in the historic market town of Tavistock provide swimming, films, live performances and exhibitions. Tavistock boasts an award-winning bi-weekly farmers market, as well as the vast array of independent shops, pannier market, restaurants and cafés. The local village has an array of amenities included a shop/post office and a food serving pub, café, recreation ground with pitches for a kick-about, tennis and basketball courts, children’s play area and an adult’s outdoor gym. Shop ½ mile, pub serving food ¼ mile, and 2 additional pubs serving foor within 2 miles.

    My husband and I (and our dogs) absolutely loved Kirkside Barn and its beautiful location. It was a very comfortable place to stay and was located by some of the most beautiful countryside we've seen. Adey and Steve were wonderful hosts. We have already booked for next year - surely the best recommendation anyone can give!

    Beautiful cottage with excellent owners, information pack brilliant. Walks provided by owners very useful. Kirkside barn itself spotless. Will defiantly be returning

    A very comfortable stay , everything we needed , cottage owner kind and attentive , would definately recomend a stay at Kirkside Barn.

    We were given a warm welcome by Adey and Steve upon our arrival, with milk in the fridge, and tray set out for tea and coffee, which was much appreciated by us weary travellers. The fresh flowers on the table were a lovely touch too. The cottage was everything we could have wished for, well equipped, warm, and very comfortable. As we had a toddler, Adey kindly fitted stair gates before we arrived. The layout of the cottage was excellent as it enabled Granny and Granddad to have their own bedroom annexe. Would have loved to have stayed an extra week. Will definitely be returning to Kirkside in the near future.
