Located on the High Street, in the centre of the village of Porlock, this semi-detached cottage has everything on its doorstep including a bus stop. All that Porlock has to offer is within easy walking distance of the cottage including a good range of local shops, pubs and restaurants. There are walks from Porlock up into Exmoor National Park. There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path and many other places to visit to make a memorable holiday. Beach 2 miles. Shop, 20 yards, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

    Family with Dog. Stayed at Kirby about 4 times now. In comparison to other holiday cottages we've stayed in, it's comfortable, home from home and good value.

    Overall the cottage was nice, but the oven was filthy,thick grease at the bottom and you couldn't see through the oven door

    Response on behalf of the Owner; I am pleased to read you liked the cottage, however can only apologise you felt the oven wasn’t clean enough – the oven is self-cleaning and had you let me know at the time, I could of resolved this for you.

    Wonderful holiday. Loved the area and the house. However, it could have done with a freezer or at least a fridge with a freezer compartment. The owner of the house was a charming and generous lady who shared her own freezer with us so that saved the day. We are unlikely to stay at Kirby again because of the car parking situation. It was extremely expensive to leave the car on the adjacent public car park . One day our son and his family, who were sharing the house with us, were four minutes late back and got a ticket, which upset them considerably. Parking in side streets was difficult and inconvenient. Constantly worrying about parking the cars was the only downside of an otherwise happy holiday.

    The owner, who lives next door, is very friendly. However, she has 8 dogs next door to the cottage. Safe access is made via the back door which caused the dogs to rush out and bark. This was disconcerting and started to become tiresome. A pleasant light and airy conservatory out the back was put to good use however the dogs were a nuisance at times.

    Kirby is a Victorian house and its front room reflects this. The top floor twin room would be a delight for Middle School aged children. It was comfy and warm in this cold, wet, late-March week. Just outside is the mediaeval village of Porlock with its cafes, shops and walks. In a week you can only see a small percentage of the delights the area has to offer.
