Description

Located next to the beach, close to local attractions and within an hour of Edinburgh - great for families and couples.

With spectacular sea views, this traditional terraced fisherman’s cottage, built in 1750, has been lovingly restored by the owners to a very good standard. With steep, narrow stairs and internal stairs throughout (young children and people with mobility problems - take care), this property is full of charm. The enclosed private garden leads to the beach, and has a patio area ideal for relaxing in with a glass of wine after a long day exploring the local area. Anstruther is within walking distance with its historic harbour, quaint shops, bars and restaurants, or enjoy fish and chips from an award winning restaurant. Take a boat trip to the Isle of May, where you can visit the bird sanctuary, famous for its puffins and seals. The Fife coastal path runs through the village, with historic castles, pretty fishing villages and many beautiful beaches and coves to visit along the way. This is a great wee cottage. Very cosy, homely and nicely decorated. The big plus for us was the view of the sea and falling to sleep at night to the sound of the waves. It has a great garden that leads down to the shore. It is an old fisherman's cottage with tight stairs but, with the exception of the, kitchen/dining area, we thought the rooms were of a good size for 2 adults and 2 kids. Parking nearby can be tricky sometimes. We were sad to leave and will hope to return next year.

The cottage was perfect :) It exceeded our expectations. We will 100% be recommending it to those we know . Only one negative point which seems to be common in nearly all holiday lets is no hooks for outdoor coats. This is not unique to this property but maybe something to think about.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your kind review and delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Kingfisher Cottage. Regarding the hooks for outdoor coats, there is a coat rail with 6 hooks in the downstairs toilet just next to the front door. Thanks.

My 3rd visit to Kingfisher Cottage and as good as ever, despite the 'Beast From The East' meaning I didn't get out so much. The cottage was very cosy and I didn't bother with the wood burner. The wifi meant I could keep in touch with the outside world too. Everything I needed was provided and everything was clean. I'd like to thank the owner for her kindness at the end of my holiday. She was very understanding and it was much appreciated.
