Nice bungalow, though overpriced as there has not been much money spent over the years on upgrading

We've stayed here twice before and love it - it's a perfect base for our Scottish holidays. We love the serenity of it and the fact that it backs onto such a beautiful river etc. Highly recommended!!

We have been visiting the cottage for a number of years on an annual basis. We always enjoy our stay but unfortunately it is becoming more noticeable that the cottage is tired and in need of some attention. Paper is peeling off the walls, kitchen utensils are worn and lacking, old out of date food goods stored in the cupboards, towels and bed linen is old and doesn't match and the shower in the bathroom in need of upgrade. There was no wheelie bin for the disposal of black bag waste, so there was lots of black bin bags in the garden. A neighbour informed us that the council wont collect black bags unless they are in a wheelie bin. Its a real shame, the cottage is in a lovely location and has lots of potential. Despite these minor issues, we had a lovely holiday.

Awesome! Amazing views, fabulous cottage - one slight niggle of uncomfortable beds but everything else is perfect! ☺

This holiday let needs urgent attention to the central heating: we were unable to use the twin bedroom as it was so cold. Not just cool VERY VERY cold and had a feeling of damp. The radiators I felt were too small for the size of the rooms. Granted it was December, but the heating system should be fit for purpose. We paid the owner extra £20 for heating as it was winter. Gas hob had to be lit with matches, surely these days are past (no matches). Hob needed a through clean. The whole house needs a through clean and update. The large patio windows looked on to the river Tummel a lovely view if someone cleaned the windows. There was 2 nice new brown leather sofas. Think the fridge in the kitchen was new but small for the size of the house let. On the whole the position in the town was good, views lovely from the sitting room, but would I stay again? Not until the house had been cleaned and updated.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Since this guest stayed at the house, the heating system has had its annual maintenance check (December 11th) and was found to be in full working order, including all the radiators. Did they check the programming? Did they check the settings on the radiators themselves? At no point during their stay did they contact either me or the caretaker for assistance. One of us could have been there in 30 minutes to sort things out if they had. I admit the hob is old and has to be lit either by matches or a lighter which we usually supply; unfortunately these are one of the things that often go missing. We do plan to replace the hob at the earliest opportunity but since it is oversized, including extra rings, the whole counter top will have to be replaced at the same time. The new sofas are in fact black, not brown, and were the major upgrade and updating for this season, together with some new flooring. We are slowly updating the house but it does take time. The fridge/freezer, not fridge, has been in the house now for two and a half years without any complaint before now. We will be doing further updates and a spring cleaning in the off season.
