The Garden Wing is a brilliant place to stay for a holiday on Skye, whether it be for a short break or a week. The owners are members of the Association of Scottish Self-Caterers and you can be assured of a great holiday. Situated on the outskirts of Portree, the property enjoys an enviable situation: It’s only half a mile to the centre of town with its attractive harbour, characterful streets and numerous restaurants and hotels and food outlets. Being on the edge of Portree and set in the mature gardens of Kiltaraglen House gives enviable views of the surrounding Scottish countryside and a tranquil and private place to relax and recharge after your Skye adventures. For guests with hybrid or electric cars, there is a car charging point available at the property offered at cost price.
Portree is centrally located on Skye and it is the perfect place to use as your base for exploring this amazing island. Only five minutes from the Old Man of Storr and fifteen from the Kilt Rock, Mealt Falls and on to the Quirang and the other highlights of the Trotternish peninsula. That’s just for starters, to the west you have the joys of the Waternish, Duirinish and Minginish peninsulas to explore too, each with their own charm and all with fabulous views. Blessed with superb fine dining, gourmets can choose from The Three Chimneys, Edinbane Inn, Lochbay Seafood restaurant, Kinloch Lodge and a multitude of wonderful restaurants, coffee shops and cafés Skye has several renowned distilleries; Talisker perhaps the best known. The Fairy Pools are close to Carbost and the distillery and visiting them edge you into the Cuillin Mountains. The Cuillin are only nine miles south of Portree, and are often visible from the town. There are countless routes to be walked and climbed, both in the Black and Red Cuillin. A highlight that many don’t make time for is a trip to Loch Coruisk hidden away in the heart of the Black Cuillin. You can walk to the loch, but it’s a long and arduous journey. Better is to drive to Elgol in the south of the island and take a boat into the mountains. It’s a magical, misty tour! The south of the island is very different to the north, but still worth exploring. Elgol is picture perfect, and beyond the mountains the Garden of Skye, the Sleat Peninsula awaits with its crofting settlements and hidden beaches. The Garden Wing is truly the ideal base for a Skye holiday. Beach 7 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
The Garden Wing can be booked together with Holly View Annexe (UK32205) and The Garden Cottage (UK32206) to accommodate up to 8 guest.

Lovely place, just outside the bustling Portree. It's quiet and peaceful, as well as providing a cosy place to stay. Owners were both lovely and really welcoming. We loved it so much, we've booked straight back in for next year.

This spacious and beautifully designed accommodation was excellent for our needs. A great deal of care has been taken to ensure that all facilities contribute to a relaxed and comfortable stay. The early information provided well before the stay ensured that we were able to do everything we wanted over the week as we had booked in advance. The owners were welcoming and friendly without ever interrupting our privacy. We have stayed at many cottages; this is certainly one of the best.

I lovely well appointed comfortable cottage in a perfect location. Lots of personal touches, great hosts and within walking distance of Portree. The sunroom was the perfect place to have breakfast and watch the chickens roaming around and to in sit during the evening and watch the sun set over the Storr. A central Skye location making it ideal to reach all areas of the island. We would highly recommend the cruise to Rona on the Seaflower from Portree harbour. It seemed expensive, but was worth every penny, the food was absolutely delicious and the sea life was amazing, we were fortunate to see Dolphins, Seals and a fabulous Minke Whale. We would definitely stay here again.
