The nearby observatory (booking is a must), is only 5 mins away, and is a great experience for all ages.
The waterparks around Kielder Water offer a hop on/off ferry, Bird of Prey Centre, cafés, pub, picnic areas and water sports of all types. The whole area is just perfect for mountain biking, cycling, walking and fishing. Day trips from Kielder Kip Cottage make a nice change, and Alnwick Castle, 50 miles, is famed for its scenes in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey.
