This was our second time returning to this cottage. It is like home from home. It is in a quiet spot, but also within walking distance to the nearest shops, cinema, beaches, leisure centre, art gallery etc. My children are 7, 11, and 12 and are always entertained around St Ives and then when staying in at the Cottage they have plenty of games and dvds to watch and to keep them entertained. We will definately be returning for a third visit in the future.

Heavy rain on the Sunday night resulting in a damp patch on the front bedroom wall, and continuing down into the living room. Not good as our kids were sleeping in a cold damp room and the uncertainty of if there could be an electric fault due to the water seeping through the walls on that side of the cottage. Should have realised as upon arrival the living room smelt damp. Although the cottage location was a short walk from the beach and shops there are better value cottages within the area after researching. No WiFi.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. The week prior to these guests arriving at the cottage the weather was torrential; we had no complaints from the previous guest. After being advised by our caretaker that there was a problem, we contacted the guest on several occasions, to make sure his family were ok. The guest said he sympathised with us because he could see that the cottage had just been decorated and the weather was the cause of the wet patch in bedroom, due to the solid stone walls and no cavity. He also told me that water was the worst thing to happen as he had a similar problem in his extension at home. I told the guest to keep the heating on 24/7 to make sure they were warm. We are disappointed with the guests’ rating as the cottage has new settees, highest quality bed linen and everything you need to make it home from home. Regarding Wi-Fi, we do not advertise it and the guest told me he was aware that we don’t have it before he booked, but the children were bored because they could not do much because of the weather. The exterior walls were treated 5 years ago along with a new roof. Week commencing 28th April the walls will be sealed again. We are very sorry that this guest and his family didn’t enjoy their stay in St. Ives but the weather is out of our control.

Walls in lounge were soaking wet , smelt very damp .

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry to hear that the guest that stayed in our cottage had cause to provide an upleasant review. We was aware of a damp issue back in November, and even though this is a stone built property that is prone to this problem, we visited ourselves to resolve this. After fitting the cottage with new guttering and checking the roof for leaks, we havn't had any further reports of damp, even from our care taker. Therefore, we are concerned to have received such a review, this being the first negative one we have had in 4 years of owning the cottage and will be returning to resolve this as soon as possible as we strive for customer satisfaction.
