Come and relax in your own hot tub in beautiful surroundings, enjoy lovely walks, or have fun in the games room at this holiday property.

Escape to these splendid holiday cottages in a peaceful elevated rural setting with wonderful views over open countryside and the hills beyond.

The Knock (ref SSAU), a peaceful cosy retreat for two, is the gable end of a traditional farm steading, private with its own access, large garden and splendid view of the surrounding hills and countryside. It has a spacious comfortable living room perfect for curling up with a book and relaxing or planning your activities for the next day.
The Steading (ref SSAV) is an original farm steading dating back to the 1800s and has now been sympathetically renovated and modernised, yet maintaining much of the original character. Set on the side of a hill you have a panoramic view of the stunning scenery including the Balachroich wild flower meadow. This is the perfect location for friends and family to spend time together with ample space for all. You can practice your cooking skills in the large kitchen, and the dining room table is large enough for the whole party to enjoy dinner together and then retire to the living room with vaulted ceiling, cosy wood burner and a great southerly view. With so much to do in the surrounding area, if you have any energy left you can round off you day with a game of pool in the games room and then sink into your private hot tub.

A perfect all year round location with activities to suit all tastes, and a great clear sky location, to admire the stars at night. From the front door there are tracks and hills to explore on foot or bike. For the more adventurous there are mountains to climb with a great selection of Munros, such as Schiehallion and Ben Lawers within easy reach. The River Tay is near and is well-known for kayaking, river rafting and great fishing (permits are available in season and lessons can be arranged in the nearby estates). Horse riding 3 miles. You are close to the conservation village of Fortingall with a 5000 year old Yew tree, and the historic town of Aberfeldy with many local attractions including a park, local galleries, shops, cafés and restaurants, cinema and a distillery. Several excellent local golf courses are within a short drive including Aberfeldy, Strathtay and Taymouth Castle and some of Scotlands most famous beauty spot Glen Lyon, The Falls of Dochart, Kenmore on Loch Tay, The Queen’s View at Loch Tummel and the Pass of Killiecrankie. The cottage is beautiful and the one big issue we had (boiler out on Christmas Eve) was solved very fast. The in-house amenities are great, it’s warm, big and comfortable. On the other hand there are no facilities in walking distance - in further we’d like to be near a pub and small shop. The essentials left were fine for a weekend but if you stay longer you need to bring matches, loo roll, paper towels etc etc. Checking out was also an issue - we had 6 people and a baby, our bags were stacked in the hall at 10am. At 10:05 the housekeeper turned up and demanded we leave in the next 5 minutes, and seriously upset the baby’s mum who was dealing with a nappy crisis! Instructions on how to use the tv would have been useful to expats we struggled with the remotes for 3 days!

We were a group of eight friends from various places in Scotland. The Steadings sits up above a valley surrounded by magnificent scenery. The hot tub is spacious, the games room a lot of fun. The beds are comfortable, the heating left a little to be desired but we'd brought big fluffy blankets for the colder ones amongst us. If you like to cook, take your own pots and pans and knives, the ones supplied are very much past their best and look as if they have been for quite a while. Admired the little utility room, and the kitchen is lovely. Bed linens, duvets and towels were supplied, but only a standard small bath towel and a hand towel each. Luckily we had chucked in a couple of huge towels 'just in case' and there is a washing machine and tumble drier, so after multiple dips in the hot tub a dry towel was available. The huge dining table seated all of us comfortably, and we lounged in various places around the big room, with some reading books, and others watching something weird on telly while hot tubbers came and went, dripping their way through the kitchen and into bedrooms and showers. A visit from a deer was wonderful, suspect it was the same one we saw morning and evening, right in the garden under the window, with pheasants in the field beyond. The little bird feeder thing could do with topping up but we were too lazy to go out to the shops for anything for it. All in all a very pleasant stay, relaxing and sociable.
