Keirs Cottage is a classic example of a late Tudor, timber-framed hall house, built around a central chimney. The holiday cottage, which has celebrated its four-hundredth birthday, is at the end of a two hundred metre drive and is completely surrounded by farmland.
There is a spacious, well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen with an oil-fired Aga (for cooking), and open fires in inglenooks in both the kitchen and the living room.
The Suffolk Heritage Coast is within easy reach, along with the market town of Beccles (3½ miles) and the seaside resorts of Lowestoft, Southwold, Walberswick and Aldeburgh. Birdwatchers will doubtless head for the RSPB sanctuary at Minsmere, while closer at hand is the lesser-known Benacre Broad at Covehithe.
Then again, guests may simply prefer to enjoy the wildlife in the garden which includes regular visits by a barn owl, a green woodpecker, with plenty of pheasant, partridge, skylarks and occasional sightings of muntjac deer. Shops 3½ miles.

I was very disappointed when I used this cottage because it doesn’t look like what it is from the pictures it was extremely dirt and awful where I found a rat inside the pool facility two times and there was dead insects and bugs all over inside the house. Not only this but the bathroom sink was all rusty and old that you can see the rust colour on the metal silver parts and there was a point the oven was not working too so we had to wait a day during the holiday break I have booked for and engineer to come and fix so due to these problems I couldn’t stand it and due to paying for a weeks stay we only stayed 3 days and left because it was very appalling. It was also very hard to get in contact in with the owner so I will not recommend this cottage as I have used this site before and been to other cottages which where up to better standard and they were on a country side as this one but it was amazing not a shaming like this cottage and I’m sorry to leave this review but I don’t want other users to waste money on this cottage when there are better ones out there. After all this only £100 refund was given back what the owner thought was acceptable which we did not think.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Many thanks for your feedback online. May we use this opportunity to respond. To deal with the points you raised, the "Stove", which is in fact an Aga, was in perfect working order, which the electrician confirmed on a Saturday morning call out which left you and your family, without an Aga for some 9 hours. Instead our cleaning lady purchased a brand new Mini-Cooker/ with stove within two hours of your arrival. This Mini-Cooker being a device I quote ‘which you prefer cooking with in the first place’. Our professional pool cleaning team cleans the pool every Friday to ensure the water is bright and sparkling clean. We don’t have rats at the property nor pool, but our pool company can confirm that sometimes hedgehogs and country mice mistake the pool for a pond. We have a long record of favourable comments and returning guests which proves that a 400 year old cottage, in a beautiful setting of 3.5 acres of land and furnished with antiques might not be to everybody’s taste. Ps. May we also jog your memory to the fact that our existing WhatsApp correspondence confirms, that we were in continuous contact as was our cleaner.
