Didn’t expect to be staying in an extension of the owners house. We could hear them through the adjoining door! It’s a nice idea but not a luxury cottage by any stretch. Dog friendly...yes it your dog doesn’t chase chickens... the place just wasn’t clean or up to the standard of other similar priced cottages. There was no Info at all on the accommodation not even where the bins are. This visit left us a little disappointed.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We always want to hear feedback and we thank you for doing this however, I am incredibly disappointed to read these comments in your review and score of 2 out of 10. We are delighted to allow all visitors to use the garden facilities and that includes dogs. We do not demand that dogs are kept on a lead as per the rules, and ask only that, if any dogs are tempted or do chase chickens please prevent them from doing so. I don’t think that is too much to ask. The information on the cottage explains that it’s on one side of our house and to say that the cottage was not clean is really quite upsetting. There is a welcome letter with info on various details including Wi-Fi etc. but if this was not in the cottage then that was clearly our mistake and we apologise for that. We are very mindful of the adjoining door between the kitchen of the Cottage and our house and are as keen to keep noise to a minimum as much as possible. Other guest reviews on either side of this visit scored us 9 out of 10, hence the reason I’m disappointed to hear these comments. We always want to welcome people when they arrive and don’t like to encroach on their privacy during their stay however, we are always available at any time if there is anything required and that may not be obvious i.e. bin disposal. Thank you, Derek.

Cottage was very comfortable, but the bottom part of the stairs is rather dangerous. No handrail, carpet on stairs and floor the same, so that they tend to blend in, so that you can miss the last step and fall, which is what happened to my wife. The owner and family are very helpful and friendly. The main problem, is the long drive to the cottage, down an unadopted dirt track of a road, full of potholes, mud and stones. Despite this we enjoyed the countryside and pleasant walks.

Stunning views from the bedroom windows of local mountains especially on the clear days were breathtaking. A very comfortable, spacious peaceful cottage in which to relax. Well tendered garden to look out on with numerous birds to view. There was plenty to do within the surrounding area, so didn't have to travel far on days out. Last Runrig concert brilliant with the backdrop of Stirling Castle, but sad at the same time. The real reason we were stopping here, everything else was a bonus. Drive track was bumpy and long but nothing compared to the one we negotiated in Wales. Would definitely recommend.
