Outside, a courtyard area with garden furniture provides a real suntrap, ideal for relaxing and enjoying a glass of wine after a day exploring the wonderful local area.
Jubilee Cottage is ideally located within walking distance of the local pub, shop and market town of Ashbourne. Ashbourne is situated in a beautiful green valley and is the southern gateway to the Peak District. A short distance from the River Dove, it is one of Derbyshire’s finest old market towns which still displays the original medieval street planning, with historic buildings and a wealth of high quality shops; the town’s appearance has changed little since the 18th century. The cobbled market place, hidden alleys and yards are a delight to explore. Its many fine historic buildings include St. Oswald’s Church, Owfield’s Almshouses and The Mansion. The towns past visitors include the famous writers Dr Johnson and James Boswell, and ‘Bonny Prince Charlie’, who stayed here on his march south to Derby in 1745. Clustered around the old market square and along the main street there are many boutiques, antique shops, bistros, food shops and pubs including Jack Rabbits, The Bridge with its lovely outside courtyard area, and The Artisan Bar serving local real ales and a large selection of gin.
Visit Ilam, located at the lower end of the River Manifold, a pretty village with a long history, dominated by a memorial cross erected in 1840. Further along the Manifold Valley is Throwley Hall where the ruins of a fine Elizabethan manor house can be found. Just off the Buxton-Ashbourne road is the village of Tissington, which is delightfully laid out with an imposing southern approach via a gateway and avenue of lime trees. Other places of interest in the area include Tissington Hall near Ashbourne with wonderful paintings, furniture and porcelain. The Tissington Trail cycle route, which follows the former Buxton to Ashbourne railway line, and Thor’s Cave in the Manifold Valley, which was first inhabited by Stone Age man, are also worth a visit. The cottage is ideally placed for the many picturesque walks in the Peak District National Park, including Dovedale with its famous stepping stones, as well as the many high peak trails. The market towns of Bakewell and Buxton are within easy reach, as are Matlock and Matlock Bath, along with the stunning country house estates of Chatsworth House, Kedleston Hall and Haddon Hall. Alton Towers is just a short drive away. Shop 250 yards, pub and restaurant 300 yards.

Really lovely cottage. Small but enough space for a family of four. Renovated to a high standard. Had a lovely weekend cycling on the Tissington trail and walking around Ashbourne.

Superb cottage. Ideally situated for Dovedale, Ashbourne, Bakewell and many more beautiful places. The cottage was spotlessly clean & very tastefully decorated. It had everything we needed ~ Home from home.

This is a delightful cottage, very tastefully and sympathetically extended, restored and furnished. There is a good pub -The Royal Oak- just 5 mins walk away, but beware portion sizes! We made the mistake of having a starter the first time we went! A good base for exploring , visiting and walking, and a comfortable place to return to.

Lovely clean top-quality cottage. Beds really comfortable, new bathroom, luxurious shower, delightful log burner and a well-equipped kitchen. Netflix on the wide screen TV was a real bonus.

What a beautifully designed and modernised little cottage. It was ideal for my husband, myself and our staffie. It was clean and well supplied. It was great to have Aldi as our local just a couple of minutes drive down the road. The locals were very friendly and I loved the fact that we could buy fresh eggs at the farm on the corner. I would recommend this as a romantic get away, or a good base for a walking holiday. Log fire was an added bonus.
